It’s 2026. All platforms are now at least partially federated, including TikTok. The U.S. government turns its eyes to Misskey and bans it.

What issues would they have to overcome to make it work? Who would they even call to a committee hearing to grill?

Truly asking because I don’t think it would be impossible, just more annoying and time intensive to implement.

Been on the TestFlight of this one. @feeeed is incorporating content from everywhere. While the configuration options says “Mastodon Handle” any fediverse handle I’ve thrown at it works so far.

PeerTube. Lemmy. Firefish. IceShrimp. Friendica. Threads. All alongside blog feeds, Reddit, YouTube, news services, personal photos, birthday reminders and more. The only thing missing is the ability to interact - like or reply direct from the interface. ❤️🥳

A video of an iPad showing the feeed app. A Catodon.social account is added to the feed and shows up immediately, alongside personal blogs, photos, pixelfed accounts and more.

Three years ago she murdered her sister. Her sister thought they would be queens together but Penta had her own ideas. She has only five legs and nearly 2000 daughters who I manage with a modified vacuum cleaner (it’s an automatic asperator.) I’m almost done moving them into their new nest. It’s been so much work. I’ve only killed four ants so far. Please don’t tell Penta. She is not patient with incompetence.

After a short hiatus due to some technical updates made my Roku, Owncast (a federated live streaming service) is available again on the platform.

In addition, a new Owncast channel is now in the app, too!

Also don’t forget Owncast has an iOS app out as well. Lots going on with the platform.

I, again, have not been very active still, but I have excuses to explain this:

  • I’ve been having a lot of ups and downs recently so that’s not very good.
  • I was sick for a few days, and I probably still am a little bit
  • I’ve been having terrible sleep lately, usually sleeping 5 or 6 hrs per night to 3 or 4 hrs per night.

Anyway, I’ve seen people following the @Threaded account and I’m very happy that it gets more and more traction, although things haven’t moved a lot lately, due to the reasons given above. I’ve mostly been working on side-projects and/or private projects (that will make me earn some buckaroonies aka. Euros.)

Continuing my journey into fediverse past, I listened to this fun interview with Eugen Rochko from 2019 on a podcast called “Nothing but the Toot”.

Nowadays I think Gargron is often seen as a caricature of sorts, and it was nice to hear a more human side here. Good to know their love of cat posts has been consistent all this time! 😸

Threads has been adding special effects to specific hashtags and full screen animations when you like the post. Initially it was done for the cherry blossom festival. This time, Swifties were treated to similar.

What’s funny is that I built a plugin for Firefish last year that places sparkles on specific words in your timeline - very similar, eh?! 😅 Where’s my cut?

Post.news shutting down. I think the largest fault was that it was JUST news. I guess for pure news junkies that’s great, but it’s not enough - you need to be tied into larger social networks.

Agree with Tim, federation is key. Not sure how they would have managed the paid posts, but they could have tried.

I promised I'd be giving updates on 's C# rewrite -a brand new fedi platform really- so here's where we're at at the moment! The backend's basic functionality is more or less finished, although there will undoubtedly be stuff to fix and improve during beta. So theoretically you could use it, but we don't have a frontend yet so you could use it only with masto apps atm. However, the frontend is where the focus is going now, and we plan to have a basic/working frontend soon so that we can release our first beta in a couple of weeks or so!

We expect performance and server requirements to be comparable to . Things are about to get exciting!
