British Sign Language has been updated to include 200 new environmental science terms like "greenhouse gas," "carbon footprint," and "photosynthesis" so signers don't need to spell out everything when talking about . You paying attention ?

I'm aware that ASL and BSL are largely incompatible - but how easy would it be to adapt these specific signs to ASL?

No more enforced apps on your smartphone, no more lock-in to their services… That sounds nice! Now please, someone call the delivery service 🤩

csolisr,

@IzzyOnDroid This sounds big for Amazon, Epic and Huawei, but on the other hand it’s even greater for free software users

I have tried to do this in my own technical writing (which is weird when I lack necessary context and/or accidentally co-opt) over the last few years, but Estelle lays it out clearer than I ever could:

“Micro benevolences”
https://openwebdocs.org/content/posts/micro-benevolences/

It is the world wide web, after all.

csolisr,

@aardrian I suppose alt-text counts as a micro-benevolence to an extent, luckily in the it’s starting to become more widespread

Here comes the annoying part of the version cycle:

  • New Debian version is announced
  • The apps that I use on my server slowly but surely start deprecating the earlier version of Debian <= I’m currently here, @LemmyDev and @akkoma have just stopped support for Bullseye
  • The mobile and desktop apps I use to access said websites also start deprecating the earlier versions
  • My web app manager, @yunohost, finally manages to upgrade everything to the latest Debian version
  • I can finally upgrade everything and go back to usual for a few more years

Alright

Backwards compatibility is the best feature of Xbox, and I don't understand why Sony is so far behind on this

When I got the XSX recently, it was so I can play Starfield when it comes out. That was basically the only reason. I did not realize the extensive backwards compatibility that this thing has. But since getting it, I’ve been playing FF13 trilogy, Fable games, Dragon Age series, Lost Odyssey, etc. Basically all games of note...

csolisr,

That, or a decent upscaling algorithm such as xBRZ. Old upscalers like Super 2x SAI made pixel art look like a cheap watercolor, and made later upscalers get a bad fame. Nowadays a good upscaler basically turns the game screen into a vectorized set of lines, and it looks much better, closer to what the pixel artists intended the end result to look like on a big screen.

csolisr,

Of course there is, search on the shaders a folder called xBRZ

csolisr,

And that's why emulators offer options, we all have our tastes. I wonder if I can hook both filters at once for maximum retro-upscaling!

Really happy about my latest purchase, it's probably the last I'll ever need: the Vader 3 Pro

  • Six buttons and a clicky D-pad make it easier to play fighting games with it
  • It includes a gyroscope for easier aiming
  • Four back paddles, and a switch to make the triggers analog or digital on demand
-Most of the buttons are clicky and super responsive
  • Works natively with the Nintendo Switch
  • And it can even use a phone holder to stream games from my computer!
csolisr,

@ryedai

Sold separately, but I had bought one from them earlier on. I thought it'd be compatible with my previous controller I bought from them, the Direwolf

I mean, theft is already illegal, but to prevent thieves from stealing you still need locks
