Electric vehicle sales in the US were up 50% year over year in Q3. While Tesla is still the 800lb gorilla from a marketshare perspective it’s dipped from 62% to 50% share.

This is a contrary trend to the thesis behind its massive valuation — that Tesla will effectively be bigger than the rest of the auto industry as EVs take over.

Analysts are hoping the Cybertruck reverses the trend. The problem is it looks terrible while other car makers have sexier cars coming.

    "Free like a puppy", while intended pejoratively when first coined, is not wholly wrong in situations when describing the "Free" in FOSS. It's a lot more work than you think it is.

    FYI to users (I'm not one). I have a couple of little USB-C testers that dump all the relevant parameters of USB-C cables. You don't need to buy Apple's expensive cables. In fact, I find that many uber-cheap USB-C cables -- I mean Dollar Store level -- test out fine and work just great in practice. Don't let Apple's reality distortion field take you for a ride on this one.

    We're all just a bunch of frogs sitting in a pot as it gently warms on the stove, too stupid or lazy or comfortable to jump out just yet. But soon to be part of the stew.

    In this "enshittified" world, we don't actually own any of the things we buy. The vendor either sells all customer data up front, or what's sold is offered mainly on a subscription basis, even as they're reselling that data. Any terms, prices or promises can be changed on a dime, and your only "choice" is "okay" or not to use the thing.

    This fairly describes your privacy expectations for commercial services in the USA. We are long overdue for a Privacy Bill of Rights that says quite simply, if you sell it and it actively collects and transmits data, you have to up front offer consumers the option to turn all it off. Full stop. And then respect that decision in perpetuity.

    My neutered Samsung TV is a 2018-ish QLED 4k which LOOKS REALLY NICE (and gets a good workout with properly mastered 4k Blu-Ray discs) but NFW is it sending or receiving bits.
