Regarding some fishing by the UK media for people to share experiences about (DIY) HRT that has been making the rounds, I'm repeating something I posted on Bluesky.

Do not engage with Susanna Rustin on any topic, especially those related to being trans or trans healthcare.

The material she's written in The Guardian, the paper most at the vanguard of stirring anti-trans sentiment in the centre left, is not friendly, fair or objective regarding us.

I asked another UK person this question...

It seems to me that here in the US, anti-trans folks are almost entirely a far-right (religious) phenomenon.

Anti-trans sentiment in the UK baffles me in that it seems to come from places like Guardian authors and other not-obvious-to-dumb-Americans-like-me sources.

Why the strong anti-trans sentiment from non-obvious sources?

(Other person I asked said he wasn't qualified to answer, and I couldn't blame him, I'm not for sure!)

As someone who writes a lot of fiction about corporate crime, I naturally end up spending a lot of time being angry about corporate crime. It's pretty goddamned enraging. But the fiction writer in me is especially upset at how cartoonishly evil the perps are - routinely doing things that I couldn't ever get away with putting in a novel.

When we talk about raising the price of something in order to decrease demand, just remember… the only demand we’re decreasing is among those folks who can no longer afford said thing. Increase the taxes on fuel and you’re making it harder for lower income folks, not the wealthy who can pay any price you demand. Demand may decline, but it may also be punishing to the people just trying to get to work, not the jet-class.

There seems to be a strong correlation between higher housing costs and better transportation. I remember how much more expensive near-Metro apartments were when I lived in NoVA suburbs of DC, and this was in the 90s. It's only gotten worse.

I don't understand why brick and mortal clothing stores are dying. Am I the only person who wants to try things on before I buy them? Sizing for women's clothing is crafted entirely from lies. I just bought a size 8 top from a brand, which fit perfectly, and had to return a pair of size 2 pants from them because they were too big.
