Two questions for those who do automatic deletion of posts on -

When you do this, does this delete all BOOSTS you have made (unless you favorite or bookmark them)?

And does it also delete all of the COMMENTS you have made on other posts (unless you favorite or bookmark them)?

The university plans to hold a moderated forum with students and faculty next month where concerns can be debated. Cudd said she would participate. Boeing donated $150,000 to Portland State University to name a classroom and provides about $28,000 a year for scholarships, the school newspaper PSU Vanguard reported. Portland State doesn’t have investments in Boeing. Student protests over the Israel-Hamas war have erupted on college campuses across the country, particularly after last week’s arrest of more than 100 demonstrators at Columbia University in New York. Students have called for universities to separate themselves from companies they say are advancing Israel’s military efforts in Gaza — and in some cases from Israel itself. About a dozen Portland State students and supporters waved Palestinian flags and held pro-Palestinian signs on Friday. They have a list of 13 demands, including three that involve the university cutting ties with Boeing. The Portland Police Bureau said that officers cleared the South Park Blocks on Thursday night because a group of protesters were "attempting to occupy" the area despite warnings from city park rangers that the park closed at 9 p.m. "Portland supports free speech activity when done lawfully!" the agency said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Protesters were gathering at the South Park Blocks near PSU again Friday night. According to PPB, they asked that the group take down "structures," which protesters did eventually do. "However, some banners were left tied to trees, so officers eventually removed the banners," the agency added. "Police were able to explain the expectations of no structures and no banners attached to trees, and remind park users that the park closes at 9 p.m."

Me hace una gracia que ahora vivo de primera mano las situaciones que salían en los libros del curso de alemán:

Desde hace rato sé que tengo que limpiar mi balcón, pero me ha ganado la pereza, especialmente por el frío. Pues ahorita voy entrando al edificio y me para una vecina que no conozco: „disculpe, quería decirle algo: noté que en su balcón hay unas hojas tapando el desagüe, le aviso para que lo limpie a tiempo y no se le inunde si llueve mucho, puede ser una situación desagradable“.

La casa donde vivo tiene un almendro que tira muchas hojas (cada par de días toca barrer a fuerzas el patio) y caen un poco en la acera también. Barro la acera pero menos seguido, digamos una vez por semana. Pero este barrio es de viejitos pensionados que no tienen mucho que hacer entonces esperan mucho de esas cosas. El otro día una vecina me dijo que había gente super desconsiderada que no barría su acera y yo me hice como que no era conmigo jaja

Now that quote posts are coming (confirmed by Renaud https://oisaur.com/@renchap/112299860209222424 ), I think it important that we have agreed upon acceptable usage.

Quote posts can be an amazing tool – there's a good reason they're so requested – but they also have the potential to add massive amounts of toxicity.

I love Cw and I use it sometimes, but I don't appreciate people coming to lecture me on how to use it. @Brendanjones Do you know if mastodon will add the possibility to limit who replies to a post? For example in a public post you could decide that only mutuals can reply.

Truly and honestly, I have a great time here, because you all make it great. You boost, you reply, you encourage, and inspire! It is crazy to me that I get to talk to people from all over the world every day. I get to be friends with people I'll probably never actually get to physically meet. I was born into a pre-internet world, and this still feels a little like a miracle to me.

We met in CR when we were kids briefly and we kept sending each other letters several years (by handwritten letters when she was in Italy, then by email more recently when she was studying in Canada). I saw her once like 15 years ago in Panama. Last thing I heard about her, she was living in Peru.

Looking at this figure, one pattern that I see is that nationals of a country loves their own food (French people love French food, Thai people loves Thai food and so on). This makes sense to me because people love flavors that brings back nice memories. I would have loved to see food preferences of Latin American people and not just how Latin American food is perceived by other countries.

@mem I think Costa Rican traditional cuisine is good but a lot of it isn't done anymore. My grandma used to cook stuff that I haven't seen in restaurants.
I wonder if Argentineans appreciate more the food from Brazil or Mexico than the one from Thailand or Morocco, for example. Peruvian food is excellent.
(When I posted this I wasn't aware that this was mostly an article about American perception of other countries'food but I still find that maybe this isn't about the "best of the world".)

@mina @mem uy una vez probé comida de Etiopía y me pareció buenísima, sobre todo un cordero picante con algo parecido a una crepa esponjosa. Es un poco eso que dice Megan, si no conoces un tipo de cocina, es fácil decir que no es tan buena.

@RickiTarr I was a lonely kid. I loved reading and wasn't interested in parties or getting drunk so I was usually listening to music or reading in corners. I had a couple of friends but I wasn't really well there. I discovered my people in college and then I rediscovered high school mates (some of the ones that weren't bullies).

Can you find the horned lizard?

I used to love this game that AfroHerper played on ExTwitter, so here's my version of it from the recent Mexico biodiversity cataloging expedition.

There is a Ditmars horned lizard ("horny toad") in this photo. It's the one I found and the first of only two found on the trip. It's a juvenile about 3" long.

If you see it, don't spill the beans! I'm hitting the road soon, but will give the answer tomorrow or tonight.

BTW, it's not hidden in the watermark or anything sneaky like that. They are just really hard to spot on the ground until they move.
