Mathematics has many daughters. Nearly all are beautiful. Physics & Chemistry are dutiful & visit home often. Life science is always away on some exotic research trip, hardly has time to write. Three of the girls live at home: Statistics, Computer Science ... & The Other One.

Statistics spent some time in a sanitarium, no one talks about it. She's doing better now, dotes on mother. Computer Science puts on a suit each day for her Big Important Job. But she still never moved out. 1/ #ideas

@Tarah @spiegelmama many decades ago a cinema in Berkeley showed RHPS every Friday night, line around the block, many regulars in costume, jumping onto stage and reciting their favorite bits…hard to imagine it dying off, and a quick web search seems to show that the show still goes on

    @Edent email aliases for each account, (all of our email addresses are aliases with the actual email account UserID never being used as an email address) which then go to a group that could be @czds and me, and could include other family members if needed. It helps that we own domains and self-host our email, though we are planning to use a hosting company, as the larger hosts are black-listing self-host colos

    @Cmastication @delawen see, this is why I started hating the term — the focus on led to unnecessarily reliant architectures and subscription businesses; the focus on Things ignored the human element, the interactions, the energy required and the stories told. Sensor Analytics Ecosystems would never had caused the hologram to leave… No… Yeah, you were right, the whole thing just sounds wrong 🫨

    @Hey_Beth @Teri_Kanefield as an only child myself, I will confirm this. Though it was decades ago. After the first semester, I found an apartment. It was cheaper than the dorm’s mandatory meal plan (which I couldn’t choke down). The bar across the street had unlimited steamed clams and pitchers of beer for US$1.00 yes one dollar, at happy hour. It was wonderful. That first semester was horrible 😂
