This article on e-bikes really resonated with me, including the experience of going from “biking isn’t for me” to my bike becoming part of my daily life.

Completely ridiculous that bicyclists, pedestrians, & other drivers have to share the streets with Tesla drivers. After a software update due to the most recent recall, from a WaPo columnist: “In my first test drive of the updated Tesla, it blew through two stop signs without even slowing down... After testing my Tesla update, I don’t feel much safer — and neither should you, knowing that this technology is on the same roads you use.”

And what about his suggestion to just give it to "the fastest and cheapest bidder"?! 😮 What a fucking moron.

@ned I’ve seen a lot of dumb takes on the collapse but wow, his take on this might be a new low. The one thing that’s consistent in his shambolic worldview is devaluing actual expertise.

@TheWarOnCars thanks for the episode on confronting drivers. After some rough encounters this spring, it was helpful to hear the experiences of others.

Started our annual read of The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper. We always read the first chapter out loud - it’s so intense and sets the stage for the following days. There’s a good BBC adaptation from last year as well: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/w13xtvp7 #TheDarkIsReading #Bookstodon

We’ve had Bread & Beer for a while but finally played it tonight. What a fun game! Very tricky, especially with only getting to score the lower of your beer or bread sales at the end. Played it 2x because we had some hilarious errors the first time.

Hey , did you know starts on Monday? This was a huge source of change for me last year - my first times biking in the rain and going on group rides. I really enjoyed having the push of a small commitment to bike every day. Any distance counts! More here: https://30daysofbiking.com

One of the best things about my job is solving problems for other people by saying or doing something very simple that they aren’t thinking about because they don’t know it’s an option or they’re just stuck in how they’re approaching it. I definitely wish that I had anyone in my work life who could/would do that for me, but I’m happy I can at least do it for others.

I find myself focusing on a lot now on the idea of repairing rather than replacing. I started inserting the question “can this be fixed?” as a first step when something breaks or wears out. It feels stupidly simple, but just making myself ask the question has changed how I think about things.

I appreciate Jamey Stonemaier making a very clear statement about their approach to Generative AI in board games: https://stonemaiergames.com/generative-ai-not-for-us. I’d like to see more publishers stating their policies. My perspective: I want to support game publishers who fairly compensate artists for their work.

Standard Saturday farmers market ride with a twist, as a marathon basically blocked off all roads to our neighborhood this morning. Actually, it was no big deal on a bike. It’s only a mess getting in/out in a car. All we had to do was pause for a few minutes to cheer on runners & watch out for drivers who had to go off of main routes and were lost and in a hurry. Played some Bohnanza Dahlias tonight! Lost to the 14yo, who is a shark at negotiating exchanges. So glad they re-themed Bohnanza - such a great game & the Dahlias cards are so pretty (art by Beth Sobel!). #BoardGames #CardGames

Popped out for a quick ride in between rain and incoming thunderstorms to pick up some lunch downtown. I’ve probably said this before, but in the 18 months I’ve been biking, I’ve been to downtown Nashville more times than in the 18 years before that combined. It’s a little too far for a casual walk and a nightmare in a car. Perfect use case for a bike. Few biz with bike parking though. Thanks @timcoffman for some action pix! Day 11 of

Are you a fan of , but not sure if you need to pick up the expansion ?

Take a read through my review below to see all the details.

@boardgamebreakdown definitely agree with your assessment! I think it would be too much for brand new players, but it’s a great expansion for people who love Ark Nova.
