Things are unbelievably tough for people in , due to . Food prices are staggeringly high. It is heartbreaking how old friends who used to do well are now really struggling. I sent one dear friend (with an MA, who used to have good jobs) some money and she said was going out straight away to buy garri, sugar, beans. And she is not one of the worst off. The majority in the country are really suffering.

The first thought reading this post was, is this a hostile takeover? Reading the article and recognizing the similarities I had to think, yes it is. It's like Germany in 1974 all over again. The Deutsche Mark became free floating too, it's value dropping and Germany couldn't import fossil fuels and other goods. It got help from France, they stopped the free floating, replaced the Deutsche Mark with the European currency unit ECU in 1976, which was later renamed EURO, and saved the economy. Nigeria has to do something similar, find neighboring countries willing to form a common market with a common currency. That could block the hostile takeover. Some foreign powers stir unrest and devastation to weaken a country and pick up the pieces. And the cheapest and easiest way is by destroying the currency, if it is unprotected.

Leaving aside the obvious GOP fascism just for the moment, a key reason why Ukraine is losing support broadly across the American electorate is that there is no apparent practical endgame in the conflict for Ukraine. It's obvious what Putin wants. But what does Ukraine really want that is practical to achieve? It is not unreasonable that at some point this question has to be asked repeatedly, given the reportedly more than $75 billion dollars of support that has flowed from the U.S. to that country.

And North Korea will march through the DMZ, in that case it's an ongoing war with the US involved, there has to be a reaction or US military wzeil have to court martial the commander in chief for treason and cowardice.

If you’re curious about how Icelandic politics are going:

  • The parliament ombudsman has come to the conclusion that freedom of enterprise always take precedence over animal welfare laws and that attempting to enforce those laws against a company is actually illegal.
  • This means that banning whaling is essentially impossible in Iceland
  • So the fisheries minister who attempted to enforce animal welfare law is likely to lose her job
  • Also might mean that the gov might collapse entirely

Vor 19 Jahren trafen sich in unserer Stadt Nazis. Nach der Ankündigung organisierten wir eine Gegenkundgebung auf dem Marktplatz, er war überfüllt. Von Familien mit kleinen Kindern bis zu Senioren im Rollstuhl. Es war beeindruckend und die Demo der Nazis löste sich angesichts des breiten Widerstand der Zivilbevölkerung rasch auf. Seit damals habe ich immer ein gutes Gefühl über die schweigende Mehrheit gehabt. Und es trifft jetzt wieder zu, in vielfachem Maß. Ich bin stolz auf dieses Deutschland. Nie wieder ist tatsächlich jetzt.

    Twitch is cracking down on nudity because Amazon see it as their answer to TikTok - their gateway to Gen Z and younger users. Amazon has no social arm outside Twitch. To make the product work financially, it has to be able to funnel the next most profitable generation into Amazon products. To do that, it has to be sanitised.

    In Germany we call that "Gesundbeten". Denying the existence of something bad by telling again and again that it doesn't exist. It's faith healing with warping logic, causality and evidence by usage of ignorance and superstition.

    We are back in the dark ages. But it's not the Catholic Church, it's the right wing populists and reactionary or libertarian politicians spreading clouds of anti-knowledge. We are living in a dystopian nightmare.

    I saw the documentary, about him bullying his way through companies until he owned them, years ago and decided not to buy one of these cars. And others now have better software, need less energy and are way more comfortable. There is not much progress in the last two years, seems the T had its peak and is stagnating. Hence the price drops.

    I gave my geometry students some ChatGPT-generated "proofs" this week to review. There were several examples, each designed to illustrate a different point. One was a "proof" that the diagonals of a rectangle are congruent, which contained several errors. I was proud that several students immediately identified how dangerous it was: "It sounds like it is correct, until you look more closely at it."

    Es wird bleiben, dass die aufmerksamen Menschen aufmerksamer sind, more woke. Aber die Ignoranten bleiben leider ignorant, weil sie nicht erreicht werden.

    Es gibt Teile der Bevölkerung, die nur nonverbal erreichbar sind, wenn sie persönlich mit spürbaren Lebenserfahrungen konfrontiert werden. Beispielsweise Inflation, Wohnungsknappheit, Veränderung der Lebenswelt, Arbeitslosigkeit. Und genau in diesem Momenten sind sie offen für Populismus.

    Und leider gibt es keinen woken Populismus, sondern nur den der politischen Extremisten. Der Rassisten, Antisemiten, Faschisten.

    Wir brauchen den demokratischen, aufgeklärten Extremismus und Populismus. Wir müssen aus der Verteidigung in die Offensive gehen.

    Die Rede war eine wichtige Landmarke in der Verteidigungslinie unserer Grundwerte. Sie muss auch Fundament für den nächsten Schritt sein, die Offensive.

    Wieso wird bei der Berichterstattung über die niederländische Parlamentswahl nur über die rechtsextreme Partei geredet, die 12,8% hinzugewonnen hat und nicht über die NSC, die aus dem Nichts auch 12,8% gewonnen hat. Von 0 auf fast 13 ist doch die größere Leistung und der deutlichere Gewinn. Und das ist eine Partei, die mehr Demokratie und Rechtsstaat will und nicht weniger.

    Könntet ihr die Faktenprüfung erweitern von einem Zwei-Parteien-Krieg auf eine dritte Partei? Dass manche Anschläge, wie auf den Evakuierungskonvoi von dritter Seite ausgehen, um den Konflikt zu verschärfen und die Spaltung zwischen Palästinensern und Israelis zu vertiefen?

    Nachdem Abgeordnete aus der MAGA-Bewegung den Kongress in den USA lahmgelegt haben und die Budgets dadurch eingefroren sind, müssen die USA die Militärhilfe zwischen Ukraine und Israel splitten. Wer profitiert davon? Wer hat diese Abgeordneten an der langen Leine? (Literaturhinweis, Dark Money von Jane Mayer)

    Wem nutzt die Ablenkung der öffentlichen Aufmerksamkeit von der Invasion der Ukraine?

    Wer hat genug informelle Mitarbeiter, Schläferzellen und Feldagenten um solche Aktionen zu planen und zu realisieren?

    Ich weiß ja nicht. Aber Gerüchte Theo Müller hätte die NPD unterstützt stammen halt von spätestens 2010. Und ich erinnere mich das auch damals schon auf dem Schirm gehabt zu haben.

    Das ist noch länger bekannt. Als er in den 80ern als einziger Mopro-Hersteller ablehnte ein Bekenntnis zu gentechnikfreier Milch abzugeben, hatte man angefangen seine politische Position zu hinterfragen und dabei kam heraus, dass es sowohl von ihm als auch von seinem Vater Verbindungen zu rechtsnationalen Kreisen und Parteien gab.

    Größeres Medienberichte datieren auf 2007. Auf Google und Bing hat er die Suche bereinigen lassen und angeblich dafür einen siebenstellingen Betrag ausgegeben. Belege dafür gibt es nicht öffentlich. In den Archivsuchen in Bayern und Augsburg, bzw deren alten Tageszeitungen kann man jedoch den Molkereibesitzer Alois Müller, den Vater des Seniorchefs, finden.

    Nicht zu vergessen, er hat inzwischen auch Campina Deutschland bzw Landliebe aufgekauft hat.
