"Here is a difficult truth: A part of the American political spectrum is not merely a passive recipient of the combined authoritarian narratives that come from Russia, China, and their ilk, but an active participant in creating and spreading them."
@wdlindsy I'm listening to this audiobook on youtube: a breakdown of Nazi Germany's 1920, 25 Point Program that became the mandate of the Third Reich.
It was a mixture of #fascism, #antiSemitism, and the "German Workers' Party" #socialism. The combination, with the fatal authoritarian doctrine, gave #Hitler unchecked power.
It parallels the GOP-2.0 under Trump following Hitler's playbook. See #Project2025: #Trump with those powers. #MAGA
"Instead of echoing the appalling rhetoric of fascists, lunching with Neo Nazis, and fanning debunked conspiracy theories that have cost brave police officer their lives, President Biden is bringing the American people together around our shared democratic values and the rule of law — an approach that has delivered the biggest violent crime reduction in 50 years."
"On a vu les cadavres, l'odeur" : la communauté internationale réclame de nouveaux comptes à Israël après la découverte de plusieurs fosses communes dans les hôpitaux d'al-Nasser et al-Chifa. La France par la voix de France Diplomatie "appelle à faire toute la lumière" sur cette nouvelle macabre découverte à Gaza.
I used to wonder how any nation’s people could be so exceedingly ignorant, hateful, selfish, and shameless that they would enthusiastically champion a piece of shit like Adolf Hitler. I don’t wonder anymore. #Trump#GOP#Republicans#MAGA#Hitler#Nazis#fascism
really upsetting to see former Wikimedia Foundation director and CEO Katherine Maher getting targeted by the rightwing outrage machine in her new role as NPR CEO. she's wonderful, and NPR is lucky to have her. i hope they stand behind her.
The #NYTimes once published an article saying that #Hitler wasn’t really that bad. He was just using #antisemitism as a way to attract followers & keep them excited about his #political campaign.
The NYTimes more recently published an article saying that #Trump isn’t really that bad. He is just using threats of #violence & #authoritarianism as a way to attract followers & keep them excited about his political campaign.
@br00t4c
If it helps, "The Polls" have been SO ridiculously wrong for the past 2 decades that "bad" polls might actually be "good" news.
Does ANYONE think #TheOrangeMenace has GAINED support since his 7mil vote loss in 2020, with his embrace of violence, glee over "overturning #Roe", his #racism becoming EVEN MORE overt, declaring his intention to be #DictatorForADay (after quoting #Hitler), and growing signs of #Dementia?
No. Not a chance. Pollsters are using the same pre-Cell methodology.
@GottaLaff great piece! This really brings the point home:
“Takeover: Hitler’s Final Rise to Power”—historian Timothy W. Ryback.
“It explains how German leaders – including some in the media -- thought they could use #hitler as a means to get power for themselves & were willing to look past his obvious deficiencies to get where they wanted. In tolerating & using Hitler as a means to an end, they helped create the monstrous #dictator responsible for millions of deaths.” #MAGApropaganda#gop
It happened, so it can happen again – a journey through Auschwitz
We must firmly block – with our bodies and our souls and the ways that we lead our lives – the pathways of accumulative radicalisation that lead to Auschwitz, writes Harsh Mander.
