Welp, just overwrote and deleted a 13- and 11-year account. Many of us put up with the decline in the site because we were able to use 3rd party apps. For me Sync was reddit, and without it there's no way I'll access the site. I don't use my laptop for social media scrolling, and I will not use their intentionally horrible app.

Even if that weren't enough, the declining standards, the admin team, the whole of the site... it's clear there's no coming back and Reddit is now in the pile with Digg and Twitter.

Here's to my new home on . With this, I'm pretty much entirely in the for my social media needs.

Went for a stroll around the neighborhood to enjoy nature and the 80 degree day (27 C).

Zig-zag shaped walking path heading downhill to a nature park with shrubs between the zigs and zags.
Blue hydrangeas in a suburban yard.
Possibly a large blue spruce tree in a suburban park. Siri won’t tell me what type of tree it is. 😡

@andrewbriscoe Oh yeah, I get that appeal. I've been wanting to live somewhere that's a bit remote and quiet, while simultaneously being close enough to the city proper so as not to be too isolated.

Lived in a farm in southern Oregon for three months that was 15 min drive to "town" which was a Safeway and a racist antique store. And a 45 min drive to Coos Bay, which also leaves a little something to be desired. Bit too remote or too lacking. I might be looking for the best of both worlds trying to have convenience and solitude 😅

@andrewbriscoe Ah that makes sense. I'm on the other side out in East Portland. One thing I do not like about living here is the neighborhood is not very walkable at all. Something I miss as I used to go for a lot of evening walks

@amydentata With attempting to block anyone using an ad blocker, and with the general decline there, I think it's only a matter of time. Though I wish Peertube had more traction. Google search I did give up already.

@ADHDefy oh, sometimes that happens. Not sure if it's a bug, or server strain, but it eventually works. I tried it last night when I made the reply and it was working at that time. Especially with enshittification day in full swing, things will be a little wonky around here I'm guessing.

@DaNanner I grew up on the east coast and thought that misery was normal. It wasn't until I moved to the west coast that I realized I didn't have to go to bed in wet sheets (we also didn't have ac). Now I've gotten way too used to living in a dryer climate and visiting family in PA is taxing in all the ways. Do not miss!

The Eagle Nebula. And if you look dead center, you can see the Pillars of Creation. Not quite the resolution of Hubble with my little scope but still cool to see it 🌌🔭

At The Old Church Concert Hall watching a Finnish Folk band with their Sounds of the Finnish Forest. I generally like folk music from around the world, and they do not disappoint.

I guess. Have a primary account @themadcodger but looking to try out . I like the UX/UI and discord/slack like reactions over here, and will probably make this the primary as soon as a good mobile app gets developed. I've tried it as a PWA and it's better than some, but not my favorite.

At any rate, I'm just a guy in the that likes going on adventures and , , and . I'm also into Games and , specifically . Online, I try to keep up on and local/national without being overwhelmed or depressed... which is not easy to do.
