I was told once that Mastodon is a friendly void that yells back. I really like that.

The world is a big place filled with terrible and wonderful things. I sometimes comment on them at length.

99.9% of jobs do not require urgency of any kind, really they don't. We've all had a boss who acts like someone will die if we don't hit some made up deadline by people who don't even do the job. No one needs their meal 1 minute faster or the paperwork before tomorrow morning. Your time off actually doesn't need to wait. Sometimes I think about how legitimately bad most businesses are at time management and hiring, and I wonder how they manage to exist at all.

Welp, I knew Microsoft's CoPilot+ Recall was going to be a privacy disaster but I didn't expect it to turn into an enterprise computing catastrophe for Microsoft quite this fast!

But this can't be a one-off. Any large enterprise that has to comply with a regulated privacy environment—HIPAA in the USA, GDPR in the EU, banking/insurance/finance globally—must be considering a ban on Microsoft installations on laptop/desktop computers right now or be breaking the law.

I don't want anyone to throw a milkshake at Nigel Farage; I'd happily hear about him being fed feet-first through a liquidiser, though.

@mentallyalex It happened to Nigel Farage on this day in 2019. And today someone conducted a re-enactment using a pint of beer while he was out campaigning. It's almost as if he refuses to get the message …

@mentallyalex He's basically a gurning fascist in a suit. A smug, self-satisfied git who claims a pension from the EU parliament, never did a day's work there to earn it, and probably did more to inflict Brexit on the UK than any other person.

I haven’t been overly thrilled with the Washington Post since Sally Buzbee came in but this seems much, much worse.

They let go of quite a few good journalists and have kept on those who seem determined to ruin their reputation. This definitely isn’t going to help.

It’s not a good sign for the publication or for the state of U.S journalism at all.

I need a question answered please. Is trump allowed to leave the country pending the appeal we all know he is filing? A lot of hullabaloo about countries that may not grant him entry, but are we really in a situation that we allow a convicted felon to move about the globe?

“No captain”
“Why not?”
“This is a pandimensional quantum computing engine. Part of it exists solely in subspace. It continually duplicates itself while checking to make sure every bit of data is in parity within a 6th dimensional matrix. The system doesn’t need backups because it is unhackable.”

The Epoch Times peddles MAGA and Q lies. Its ownership has questionable financial roots.

They also love Trump and RFK Jr. has called it a great daily read.

And now its CFO is now under federal judicial scrutiny for money laundering.

When students miss class for medical reasons, they provide a note that they are under a doctor's care, not the condition. I suspect these professors aren't silent about their feelings on abortion, so probably no student has ever told them they are having one.

Despite the school being in Austin, the lawsuit to not have to excuse students who get abortions was filed 400 miles away in Amarillo so that Judge Kasmaryk will hear it. No need to wonder how he'll find.

Thanks to a new federal initiative from the Biden Administration, the electric grid is getting over $10B of upgrades. New transmission lines will help countless Americans access cheaper, more reliable energy, preventing power outages and reducing pollution.

People constantly bring “the grid” up as a reason to not support clean energy, yet we have an administration addressing it.

"It can happen to anyone," he says.

I don't think that is true. Anyone is at a very wide angle. Anyone would include people who are not eligible for the presidency. Anyone includes individuals who are not interested or engaged with sexual conquests beyond their spouse. No, anyone is simply a bad word choice.

"It could happen to a very select few, which we feel represents those of us who we feel everyone should bask in worship of," he implied.

I have spent a great many hours doing a great many things. Some of them were even questionable in terms of their legalities. I have never come close to qualifying for the Presidency. I have never come close to playing on the national stage at that level and I have come a lot closer than some. It's disingenuous to say or think it could happen to anyone.

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@mentallyalex That’s how he tries to relate to the “regular” people- like he’s one of them. He’s not.

What would happen to “anyone” would be consequences as he’s getting.

He’s also going to fundraise off of it (probably already started) and relieve all those “anyones” of their money. People he doesn’t care about anyway.
