@fifilamoura @gwynnion Identity politics isn't ideological, it's a description of reality, and denying the reality of POC and people of marginalized gender is harmful. The oppressor first bludgeons you for your identity, then when you resisted the attacks, says you can't have it.

I was talking with a biochemist friend of mine about hydrofluoric acid used in glass etching. She was outraged at it being used by someone outside a laboratory setting. I was like, okay, but doesn't some fluoride naturally produce hydrofluoric acid, like the same stuff you put in your teeth? And she was like, "I don't put that in my mouth."

I swear to god allistics should not be allowed to write surveys. Allistics probably think this is a totally reasonable question, which will provide useful numbers.

BUT, if my "expectation" of Xfinity customer service is "absolute crap", then a 3 means "absolute crap" and a 5 might mean "passable".

Why do allistics have so much trouble writing questions that actually get the data they want? I see this 🐄💩 ALL the time.

@masukomi But they don't care about the quality of service, they care about your emotional reaction to it. People are motivated by being delighted or disappointed, not by some objective measure of success.

I've been seeing discussions lately around the YouTube fascism algorithm [not directed at me] implying that if you get those suggestions it's because that's material you have sought out.
Not true.

It's been studied and repeatedly shown--like a vehicle w/poor alignment--suggestions will drift to the right pretty quickly.
To "never" get them, you must
a) be outside targeted demographics AND
b) not look at DIY, repair, survivalism, building, cooking, sewing, politics, animal husbandry, automotive

Something I’ve seen is a kind of system where software downloads are paid until a fundraising goal is met and then they’re free while the goal is met for that budget period. Seems like an interesting way to encourage a predictable budget. Knowing that our current sponsors goal is only at 20%, thoughts?

@danirabbit I'm not sure how fairness enters it. What's the goal? Personally I think society benefits more if the software is free as in "libre" as well as free as in coffee, so it can live forever. So I would budget with that goal in mind, if feasible.

If I compost, that is for 2 main reasons:

One, I care for this planet and I think that we need to be responsible for it. I can't watch the neglectful behavior of men who have become a real danger for it and do nothing. I do not want when the next generations ask me why has your generation destroyed our planet to give them a concert of bullshit excuses, they deserve better.

Two because I noticed every time I eat homegrown food it tastes so much better than any produce you can buy that is very expensive and does not taste good.

Tell me more about the reasons that have pushed you to compost.

    GOP withdraws plan to declare Trump presumptive presidential nominee. Word is that Trump and team initially signed on, but after backlash changed mind and Trump asked them not to proceed in the name of "party unity". The real story is likely somewhat different than the reported one, but who knows?
