ABOUT FASTMAIL
When Fastmail first opened they offered a pay once, lifetime account. We had two.

One day they announced they were not going to honor that and they'd close our accounts if we didn't subscribe. I would argue that they could have at least offered to forward an existing email address to somewhere else. They offered nothing.

@etherdiver MANY thanks for this. One of my many faults is not staying in a lane. Or my lane is too many lanes! Quirky tries to assemble stuff that pretty much doesn't fully fit. A rap that isn't a rap (Simulation), etc.

If you're lucky enough to live a long life, it's sad to lose friends and family, one by one over the years. But it's even worse to find an old photo of someone long gone, or think of some memory, and want to share it with a common acquaintance, only to remember that they're gone too.

@skinnylatte It's amazing how good vegetables, spice and nuts etc can taste when the recipe is right. We had a vegetarian restaurant near the office and they did a delicious "nut roast".
We've come a long way, because the early days featured horrible, cardboard tasting, or tasteless "vegeburgers" and such.

Time to put my own open source Over the top (OTT) box together and tell Roku and Amazon to go to hell once and for all

Already have Jellyfin server running with NEXTPVR running with Pluto Live TV and VOD in the live TV and use it as my cable card & OTA dvr.

@andycarolan The menu was Japanese curry, salad with a Japanese dressing and a strawberry cake. All great and now I'm ready to make the salad dressing as it requires no special ingredient.

@andycarolan By the way, my favorit pie of all time, made by only one patissier in Paris, was their pear-caramel pie. Delicious. The baker was a retired banker! Unfortunately, he sold the biz and didn't leave that recipe!

@etherdiver It seems that in this day and age, many people are interested in checking out no-name artists doing all their own promo (which is to say, VLPP (very low power promo).
Whatever other complaints we may have, when I started recording, a half century ago there was only cassettes in the car trunk. Now, you can reach the entire world with just an Internet connection.

@etherdiver Honestly, in my (long) experience, the artist's favorite work are often thought of as "meh" whereas some thrown together jam is seen as really good. If you don't find a single thing on this album, you can check out blues, the jazz, the ambient etc. on other albums. I do think there's at least one good thing on each! 🤣

So, hypothetically, if I wanted to setup an experimental online store for physical products, what would be the most cost effective way of doing this?

I'm happy using Webflow, but it's not cheap... so I won't be using that to start with.

My skills in HTML and CSS are very limited, so I need something visual to build upon.

Setting up images and branding is of course no problem.

Advice appreciated!

@andycarolan One thing you'll want to do is watch for the friction level for payments. It's annoying to want to donate or purchase only to find it's complicated by some issue or another.

This is because I don’t like doing Google queries on someone else’s behalf.

And if they really wanted to know the answer, they would do the work themselves.
