So, maybe, read books? Buy used books. Browse the library. Get that fancy edition of Les Fleurs du Mal that will definitely not regret spending 30€ on when your partner gets really cute and flustered reading it in the morning.

Of course, the "right answer" is that we have to subvert the script, and have each queer relationship be a new, unknown, scary, but beautiful thing where boundaries are established and respected and the rules are written with consent in mind.

But doing that requires cognizance of how society functions and these scripts existing. It also requires the understanding that everyone in this society is socialized to understand all roles they are supposed to play, in order to challenge them. That challenging them is hard, and a lot of work, and that's okay. But that work is necessary.

This article is fucking amazing. It lays out exactly how to do database changes, codebase changes, and feature flag deployment strategies step by step with code examples in order to practice continuous deployment without downtime or breaking anything.

I've wanted to write this article for years and never got around to it. Now I don't have to!

(Looks like they have a book on continuous deployment coming out soon. I might have to get this for my teams 👀 )

Serious question: for an “eye contact” CW, does anyone have a sense for the bounds of when they are applicable/recommended/desirable?

Like, say, when:

  • eyes are visible, the person is looking off to one side?
  • it’s not a person, but an animal?
  • it’s a drawing, game screenshot, etc?
