We were driving on a back road into town when we saw four vultures perched on a fence. I had the "wrong" lens for a great capture, but I love the essence of this one as he took off towards the trees. I think vultures are very cool birds.

I grew Chinese Lanterns one year. Had no idea how much of your garden they can take over. When they faded, their beautiful skeletons looked like magic lanterns to me.

LAKE SUPERIOR STATE PARK
We stopped at Lake Superior state park and walked down to the lake under that cloudy sky. On the way back up the hill, I saw the empty tables, the pavilion and the long row of pines. Summer is over and all the visitors have left for the coming months. Something about that view...

White Magnolia Flower Spring BW - the tree around the corner lives alone in front of an abandoned house and I visit it regularly to talk to it and tell it how beautiful it is. Here, I photographed it and processed it as a modern monochrome image which gave it a soft abstraction and a lot of pop.

Summer Phlox Flowers Blue Tone July 28 - I love Phlox flowers. They smell so lovely and I love watching how they bloom. Spires that unfurl and become the beautiful small flowers. I gave it a slight blue tone during processing.

Bonfire Season Begins - the first bonfire of the year. Weather is getting warmer and it's great to sit outside again. Our friends have a cabin in the woods, perfect to sit and relax.

Horse Hoof Resting - Horses just hanging out will generally have one hind foot resting, with the opposite front foot popped forward a little bit. It was fascinating to notice their hooves while waiting to ride. It did seem relaxing for them.
