The Lower Sioux tribe in Minnesota is pioneering the country’s first integrated hempcrete operation, transforming industrially-grown hemp into a construction material for sustainable, healthy housing. This initiative, unique in the U.S., also aims to tackle the tribe’s critical shortage of jobs and housing, while acting as a model for other Indigenous tribes.

The 25th Anniversary edition is the purest nostalgia hit you could ever take. Obviously it wasn't the first fps ever, but it was the first time I'd ever played something so immersive with such organic storytelling. No other medium outside of video gaming is capable of drawing you into their narrative so completely, and the entire medium owes a debt to Dr. Freeman for blazing the trail that they walk today.

When it comes to mind-bending aerial manoeuvres, it turns out hummingbirds can give Top Gun’s Maverick a run for his money.

Researchers have discovered that the diminutive creatures, native to north America, have two different strategies they can deploy to squeeze through gaps that are smaller than their wingspan.

Every time I've ever been to this mall, it's always been a quick in-n-out. Today I've learned that there's a public here...

Interesting today. On the second day of spring, the humidity is already approaching midsummer levels...

There's definitely more people at the beach than usual today, but it's not a holiday weekend, so... ?

In case you missed it, the 1965 Michael Cane film The Ipcress File had a TV remake last year. I always enjoy seeing the same material being done in multiple mediums, because it shows the strengths and weaknesses of each. Film is great for telling a tightly packed thriller, but it just doesn't have the scope for deep character study that a 6 episode series does.

Is anybody else using the plugin on their ?

sheawoodrow,

@dogwonder As far as I can figure, it currently has two uses:

  1. Automatically publish posts to , and

  2. Comments are posted to and replies to the autopost mentioned in 1 appear in the blog's comment section.

But it does seem to be really early days for the integration at this point, so hopefully there's new features in the pipeline.

sheawoodrow,

@jellymelon Essentially, yes. It also connects to your comment section, so any replies to the post on mastodon will appear as a comment on the site.

Tembo, meaning 'elephant' in Swahili, is an 8" stuffed elephant doll made out of soft grey fabric and green overalls.

100% of net proceeds go to various organizations that help aid in fighting the poaching crisis and also provide care to injured, abandoned, orphaned, and abused elephants.

For some reason, decided to stick episode 1 of International Gladiators in my recommendations. How do they know what I watched on tv 29 years ago?

It's been a long drive. Has anyone considered that is stalling so his troops can stretch their legs? Maybe get a bite to eat or a cigarette break?

sheawoodrow,

@Pattyagray Just remembering the last time I made a long road trip. Stiff legs are real and very uncomfortable.

So he just took the Wagner group for a sightseeing drive?

That’s it?

Makes zero sense.

sheawoodrow,

@brienneofsnark Good reminder of how Mark Felt blew the whistle on Watergate because somebody else got the job he wanted.

Brilliant takes on over on the right now. Trumpers desperately retweeting any talking points, no matter how stupid. Sheesh. What a sewer that place has become.

sheawoodrow,

@greenhombre What media does this person follow? Or does reporting on a situation automatically equate to endorsing it?

So I need your help interwebs in making an important decision.

I have never watched the Mission Impossible movies. I am considering a marathon watch. What say you? Is it recommended?

sheawoodrow,

@ppatel You can skip 2, possibly even 1. Part 3 is good and acts as a soft reboot of the series. General rule of thumb with the series is that the named sequels are better than the numbered ones.

sheawoodrow,

@ppatel The first one is actually good. They needed the reboot because of part 2. It was one of those early 2000s trying way to hard to be cool movies. You can tell how hard they were trying by the way they replaced the classic theme song with a Limp Bizkit cover version.

sheawoodrow,

@ppatel Pretty much, yeah. Here's a fun fact about 2 though, Dougray Scott was supposed to play Wolverine in X-Men, but M:I2 went over schedule, so he had to drop out, which is why Hugh Jackman was brought in as a last minute replacement.

sheawoodrow,

@ppatel Better choice, if we're honest. Dougray Scott is very Scottish. He would've brought a mich different energy to the most famous Canadian superhero...

Just picked this up from the charity shop for ZAR10! (For context, that's about 54 cents US)
