Joe Biden could still turn this around and not lose to Trump by defunding Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. If he doesn’t, there will be only person to blame for Joe Biden losing to Trump in six months and that’s Joe “I am a Zionist” Biden.
He simply said that if Biden loses, that is on BIden.
It has always been in his power to listen, and change course. He is gambling with America's future, knowing his actions could cause him to lose. He is gambling that the fear of Trump will enable him to continue to enable genocide, and still win.
I don't have a solution. I think Americans are faced with a ghastly choice. I am grateful I do not have to make that choice.
"Gilad Erdan, the [Israeli] ambassador, said in an interview with Israel’s Army Radio on Wednesday that the UN has “turned into a collaborator with Hamas . . . maybe even more than that — a terror organisation unto itself."
@fkamiah17
I am amazed that the Israeli population have not yet realised that Netanyahu and most of the Israeli government are Hamas, having done more than any one else, or any organization, to turn people against Israel.
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham:
"Why did we drop two bombs—nuclear bombs—on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? To end a war that we couldn't afford to lose"
"Give Israel the bombs they need to end the war they can't afford to lose and work with them to minimize casualties."
Yes. Really.
CodePink's answer: "it is despicable that a sitting senator can go on live TV to support nuclear bombing Gaza, but students protesting a genocide are made out to be a threat."
Across the political Right, the narrative is that disability benefits (primarily Personal Independence Payments; PIPs) are too easy to get & are often paid to the 'undeserving'... however, in reality nearly half of applicants are rejected, rising to over two thirds for endometriosis (a gendered dimension I'll leave you to ponder), but with high rates of rejections over-turned on appeal (often with the same evidence).
@ItsThatDeafGuy@ChrisMayLA6
This is outsourcing to the extreme - not content with policies and actions that knowingly kill their own citizens, the government now asking citizens to do the job for them by committing suicide.
🧐
Via Barak Ravid, political reporter at Axios:
"Democratic mega-donor Haim Saban wrote an email to Biden's aides Steve Ricchetti & Anita Dunn about Biden's decision to put on hold a weapons shipment to Israel: 'Let's not forget there are more Jewish voters who care about Israel than Muslim voters who care about Hamas'"
You'd think he would have spellchecked it, considering it's an email to the President.
While accurate data is hard to assemble, it now looks like around 8-10% of people who are 'self-paying' for private medical treatment are borrowing the money.
As the Tory defunding strategy has pushed more people into the arms of private healthcare so their chums in financial services are also starting to garner some more business.
That desperate people are being forced into indebtedness to pay for treatment is a sad confirmation of the Tory's strategy of wrecking the NHS.
@ChrisMayLA6
10 years ago I dislocated my sacroiliac joint, suffered from debilitating damage to my sciatic nerve. 24/7 intense pain not stopped with painkillers & an appointment to see a specialist 6 months away, i eventually went private. Diagnosed within 2 minutes, started treatment straight away. Couldn't work for a year. Lost taxes to Govt. Lost my house. For something the specialist told me I could have recovered from in 2 weeks if diagnosed straight away. Tory cost savings?
@DrALJONES
I do not envy Americans, having to choose between a wannabe dictator, and... i cannot think how to describe him, a man who has no conscience over being a direct enabler of the killing of 10s of thousands of people, providing the funding, the political support, and the weapons.
How does someone sleep at night knowing they could have stopped so many deaths, but made the choice not to.
@fkamiah17@sufferforme
Personally, I think it has been worse than that - a hostile takeover by conservatives infiltrating the Labour party to negate the usual two-party state of affairs
@fkamiah17@sufferforme
I agree with the mechanics of what you describe, but I do not believe the labour party was their natural home in the first place
The #NHScrisis is being compounded by the now very clear historic problem of a lack of #investment (see previous posts) across the country.
One cannot be surprised that a policy that has resulted in a lack of investment in public facing services (i.e. #austerity) causes increasingly worse problems.
What started with #Thatcher's give away of money coming in from #NorthSeaOil has continued for decades with short-term gains bought at a long term cost.
@ChrisMayLA6
I will never understand why so many people still believe the lie that the Tories are the best party to manage the economy, and I've been saying that for 40 years.
@therightarticle
In an increasingly polarised world and as more nations turn (fall?) to right wing governments, Human Rights are more fragile than any time since 1948.
Even beyond those relating to war, a few examples of articles broken daily in most 'democracies’:
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.
Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions.
