Much of what is going on in the world seems unfixable. From a position of safety and privilege in Canada, I suppose it could be ignored but I don’t think I’m wired that way. So it still hurts …

I can’t join a war front or run off to a mission with MSF. But I can scrape up a little $$$ to support the work of those who can.

I feel that @timkmak is one of those and his & his colleagues' work is outstanding. Consider funding them if you can. If you can’t - read and share.

But Tymur was not a spy - or even a soldier.

He was a Protestant - a religious group that faces persecution in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

I left my house to go to an interview here.

And yet, minutes later I was kneeling besides a man I had never met before, with my fingers on his carotid artery, feeling a fading heartbeat.

His skin was already blue-ish gray.

His limbs were splayed out in inhuman directions. Blood flowed from his face.

Placing the back of my palms on his chest, I felt for rise and fall – he’s not breathing. His skin color reflected that awful fact.
