Mein Eindruck ist, dass gerade etwas ganz ähnliches passiert wie am Ende der römischen Republik. Reichtum ist so stark konzentriert, dass Akteure mit ihm die staatlichen Institutionen aushöhlen und für ihre eigenen Zwecke nutzen. Der Kontext ist anders, aber die Gefahr für die Republik ist die gleiche.

@Fischblog wobei die Abschaffung der Religionsfreiheit durch Theodosius wohl ein sehr entscheidender Schlag war, von dem Rom sich nicht mehr erholen konnte. Alles wissen war über Nacht wertlos, weil ein Buch einer dirchgeknallten Sekte plötzlich die einzige Wahrheit war.

Europe’s naivety must stop. While we limit Ukraine’s use of our weapons on Russian territory, Russia is completing an airfield just 75 km north of the Ukraine border, near Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv.

This means, transport plane after transport plane can deliver Russian soldiers and equipment needed to destroy a city of 1.4 million people — just a short drive away.

You do not fight a cancer by discussing if chemotherapy is an escallation.

Ohne sie wird die Verteidigung gegen Rechts nicht gelingen. Sie zu verteufeln ist, eine selbst erfüllende Prophezeiung zu erschaffen.     @tazgetroete sonst geht es euch noch gut oder? Verhandlungen sind nur sinnvoll, wenn Russland bereit wäre Zugeständnisse zu machen. Das sehe ich nicht. Außerdem glaube ich, das Russland die Möglichkeit einen weiteren Krieg beginnen zu können genommen werden muss. Sonst werden die baltischen Staaten die nächsten sein. Denn eine Landbrücke nach Kaliningrad ist klar der nächste Schritt. Es ist traurig, wie wenig wir bereit sind für unsere Freiheit zu riskieren.

    It will make no difference whatsoever if is banned from the ballot in or indeed any other blue state. All the matters is whether or not he is banned in a red state or in PA, WI, GA or AZ, ie one of the battleground states.

    Polish truckers are blocking Ukraine from getting cargo trucks across the Polish border, leaving everything from food to tourniquets to military pickup trucks stuck in Poland — in the middle of a war!

    Are there any limits to the hardship we will impose on the warn torn Ukraine, while their soldiers are killed and their cities are bombed?

    REMINDER: ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, and other large trained neural models are NOT "artificial intelligence", they're just stochastic parrots, remixing and regurgitating what they've been fed. There's no theory-of-mind involved, so no understanding: there's no "there" there. (A real live parrot exhibits more intelligence than this.)

    Don't call it AI; call it parrot-tech. That way you'll have a better perspective on what it can (and can't) do.
