With the help of the Islamic Civilization User Group, Martin Poulter discovered that this Arabic manuscript describing how to treat a tarantula bite with a pomegranate had been uploaded backwards, making it impossible to read. The winners of #WikiLovesEarth in #Wales have been announced! Wales had the 2nd highest number of photos submitted, with Germany in 1st place, and the hosting country of Ukraine coming 3rd.

With a whopping 5,123 photos submitted for Wales the judges were spoilt for choice! Thank you to everyone who took part.

The entire catalogue of photos are now on Creative Commons licenses, helping to document our beautiful natural world.

The second place photo for WLE in Wales was awarded to Dwalad, for this photo of a lake in Cwm Idwal at the Glyderau mountain range. The sky is a cloudy grey, reflected in the glassy surface of the lake, which is surrounded by mountains in the background and lichen spotted rocks in the foreground.
The third place spot was awarded to WelshCarebear for this photo of a grey heron, paused with one leg lifted while fishing for small fry. The heron is stood on a wooden deck over calm water. Taken in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley.
