This week I boosted posts from #GoToSocial and #Akkoma instances and followed someone on a #Funkwhale instance all from my #Mastodon instance, as if they were all Mastodon posts and accounts.

Parfois je suis sur Mastodon en croyant être sur Blouskaille. D’autres fois, je suis persuadé d’être sur Mastodon, alors que je suis sur Blouskaille. Il n’y a que sur Twittix que je sais où je suis, sans savoir si cela va encore durer longtemps.

Et Zou ! C'est reparti! #Funkwhale est un projet communautaire qui permet d'écouter et de partager de la musique et de l'audio au sein d'un réseau ouvert et décentralisé. En quelque sorte le pendant de (feu) Bandcamp ou Soundcloud. Il manque juste la monétisation pour les artistes. Another home lab install - I decided to give Plex another try for managing my music, and after installing Plexamp, I can't say I hate it. Works well on phone, ipad, and even CarPlay.
Still going to give Navidrome a try. Looked at Funkwhale but I'm not quite there yet.

EDIT: things that are not based on the US and things that are not led by white men are greatly appreciated. we need this kind of paradigm shift if we want to avoid being on a shitty tech loop.

Si vous commencez à avoir vos habitudes sur le fediverse, considérez proposer vos morceaux sur #Funkwhale . https://funkwhale.audio/ Ça marche pareil que PeerTube pour la vidéo et Pixelfed pour l'image (on peut suivre vos comptes directement depuis Mastodon).
Par contre il n'y a pas de feature de monétisation, mais bon, le reste est déjà bien fichu.
I don’t know how to feel about the #Bandcamp situation. It certainly doesn’t decrease my disdain for Epic Games, and I’m disgusted by Songtradr’s stance of “supporting the band camp community is our top priority but let’s fire half the staff.”
But what’s the alternative? Isn’t it the only well-known music platform that doesn’t screw over musicians? Are there other places where I can launch a vinyl release for no upfront cost? Control my pricing?
Possible, I did not check recently. If Funkwhale doesn't have the full range of features on board a consideration is to see whether it is possible to have multiple #Fediverse projects be combined and integrated to save work.
Note that @GuildAlpha (part of Social Coding Movement) recently started working on #LibRate which might be an added service for #Funkwhale (just brainstorming ya know ;)
Hallo Fediverse! Bitte um Rückmeldung + Ergänzungen: Übersichts-Tabelle mit Fediverse-Diensten, Vergleichsdiensten und Funktionen
Ich schreibe einen Artikel über den #FediverseFachtag und in dem Rahmen natürlich auch über das #Fediverse . Zielgruppe sind Leute, die wahrscheinlich zum Großteil noch gar nix vom Fediverse gehört haben.
Dazu bin ich dabei, eine Tabelle zu erstellen, in der einige Fedi-Dienste sowie deren Haupt-/ besondere Funktionen aufgeführt werden sollen.
Das ist der derzeitige Entwurf:

Ein Vergleich mit kommerziellen Plattformen ist natürlich immer nur zum Teil passend. Ich kenne auch keinen der kommerziellen Dienste aus eigener Erfahrung, aber für die avisierte Zielgruppe kann so ein Vergleich vielleicht trotzdem eine hilfreiche Orientierung sein. Vielleicht gibt es da aber auch Vergleiche, die passender sind. Einige Dienste (bspw. Medium, Podigee) kannte ich auch noch nicht mal vom Namen her, sondern habe das nur aus ähnlichen Vergleichstabellen übernommen.
Zu den "besonderen Funktionen":
Insbesondere Friendica, Firefish und v.a. Hubzilla haben so viele Funktionen, dass diese im Rahmen der Tabelle nur exemplarisch aufgeführt werden können und die Auswahl ist subjektiv. Hier wäre die Frage, ob das eine passende Auswahl ist, ob besonders wichtige fehlen oder ob andere Funktionen wichtiger oder besonderer sind.

My ideal #decentralised#Bandcamp alternative would be something like a combination of (I) #Faircamp as a frontend, (II) #Funkwhale as an #Activitypub audio file sharing & profile-following for the backend, and (III) something like #Liberapay or #Comradery to buy albums & financially support musicians.
What with the no-doubt immanent enshittification of #bandcamp I'd like to direct people's attention to projects like #Faircamp by @freebliss and #Funkwhale@funkwhale. While not a drop-in replacements for BC as of yet, I think these are an excellent starting points for an #ethical, #decentralised & healthy #music community.
What would a decentralized #fediverse#BandCamp service look like? I'll obviously support bandcamp until the bitter end and I hope it ends up fine and this is all nothing to worry about. But I think it's an interesting question.
I have some ideas but I'm interested in hearing from others.
