If you bought a #spotify car thing you should ask for a refund. If you didn't know, they're bricking every single one and sending tons and tons of e-waste to the landfill. It's truly despicable.
At least get your refund, go to their support chat and mention the car thing and a refund. The chat bot will say some crap, I just said "your chat bot did not answer my question", got a real person who asked for a receipt (should hopefully be in your email as a PDF from Spotify) and offered a refund.

TL;DR Podcaster published on Anchor, moved to another host and back (due to 'wrong download numbers'), in the process got locked out of their own podcast and lost 3k 'followers' on Spotify. If those folks had been subscribed to RSS in a proper app rather than follow through some proprietary system, there would've been much less damage. Lesson: don't tell people to follow on Spotify.
@ai6yr maybe they fired the team that worked on the software and they're going to shut down the servers rather than bother to do anything that costs money.

@hund Making hardware unusable like this and refusing to unlock it should be banned. This company is basically disallowing users from re-purposing hardware, and straight out telling them to trash it -- even though it's perfectly good hardware that has nothing broken. They've simply decided that it can't be used any more.

I'd appreciate if you could share this around. As someone opposed to #Spotify for a dozen reasons there was only #Bandcamp that was semi-ethical & gave musicians a fair deal. Bandcamp is under new ownership, had big layoffs, changed their terms & are starting playlists (likely to fill with AI music?). Dieses Spotify ist einfach für'n Arsch. Bei der hälfte der Playlisten die ich in den letzten 12 Monaten erstellt habe sind mehr als die hälfte der Songs weg. Gottseidank bezahl ich nichts. Da kauf ich mir meine Musik dann doch lieber. Dann verschwindet die auch nicht einfach.
Just found out that Spotify have secretly introduced new “Basic” plans which just removes access to audio books and drops the monthly cost a little bit.
Worth looking at if you’re like me and use Spotify but aren’t the slightest bit interested in audio books on their platform.
