Some of their later stuff is downright beautiful. But early stuff like Staten och Kapitalet feel very topical today still.

Google translate is horribly wrong in thinking that the anime "Delicious in Dungeon" is "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon" in Japanese.
I'm guessing that google thinks that Anime + Dungeon = DanMachi.
@yon@anianimalsmoe the absence of more specific single words just means we need to add words to describe I guess, and maybe points to the importance of differentiating them immediately vs. not. There are two words for rice in Cantonese depending on whether they are raw ("mai") or cooked ("fan").

I’ve gotten into reading Japanese books a lot more recently, and I prefer e-books as their built-in dictionaries are a god-send for foreign language learners....

Googling Japanese dictionaries a bunch because I know I'm hearing the sounds correctly, but can't figure out the words. Apparently, one character speaks almost exclusively in slang with terms like https://kotobank.jp/word/あたぼう-425260 which is short form slang for あたりまえだ、べらぼうめ.
I just switched to Android after being a very long time iOS user and I’m somewhat at a loss at the best apps and must-haves of Japanese content, dictionaries and similar stuff....
At break with coworkers today, I mentioned learning Japanese since a bit over a year now. I was then asked to say something in Japanese, but I couldn’t really think of anything good....
I met two Russian people who were running a booth at a festival. One greeted me and tried to converse with me in English, but it soon became apparent that that wouldn’t get us very far. So, we switched to Japanese, and made small talk for a few minutes before I made my purchase....
Not a plea for help since I imagine using the word bank allows the text to be accepted. And no, I’m not trying to get it to fail by using 二 instead of ニ. I’m pretty sure the exercise is bugged.
Whew, there are always challenges in learning a new language, but c'mon! Just learned that in #Japanese the word for 'painting' is the very short, and almost un-hearable micro-syllable 'e.' It totally disappears when used in a sentence.
I'll have to be sure to avoid art galleries when visiting Japan 'cuz I'll never know what people are talking about.
@ottaross We found out after we'd paid, so … And I really wish I could turn off all the silly gamification stuff. It's just annoying as I don't care about competing with anyone.
@WTL indeed, same. They hype the points and streaks, but I've been ignoring them. Don't mind the nag emails so much, as they keep it at the top of mind.
