There is no other band that i connect to much to Halloween like Liphlich. I actually stopped listening, because they only work on Halloween and no other time. It's like that perfect Theater/vampire feeling.
You could also just listen to all Liphlich songs on Halloween.
There was a time, when covering songs was all the craze. And we go all these great compliation CD's. Everything and their last neighbour was covered, hence we got Disney songs, too. That's why this perfect metall cover of "This is Halloween" exists. Better than the original.
holiday weekend, and I already knocked out the (very smol) work I'd promised to do, so now I can relax the rest of the day (already relaxed yesterday).
Excellent day yesterday, along with a nommy sushi dinner to wrap it up.
Made it to level 25 in Wanikani! #japanese Now manga is waiting for me, and google translate is helping a LOT. 😁
@TonyStark Hey there, I hope you are taking time to breathe and take care of yourself! I saw this on someone else's timeline and thought the absurdity reflects the kind of situation we find ourselves in-- 😜
In 2009, @lego and #Japanese retailer Muji collaborated to create innovative building sets that combined basic #LEGO bricks with Muji’s minimalist #design principles. Despite the concept failing to gain popularity, the team at Studio Playfool in #Japan has revived the idea, creating fun and unusual combinations of LEGO and paper using a hole punch and a template. 🧱📄🤖
I thought this about the paper thing when I saw the bendy guy in the picture.
I remember watching a YouTube video (that was recommended to me again about a week ago, btw) a few years back about it and I thought it was a really cool idea.
It’s a shame that LEGO don’t redesign the hole punch and reintroduce this. It’s a great way for people to get creative and have more fun, especially if they only own a few bricks.
got my yearly health check this friday (健康診断 けんこうしんだん)
I need to remember to do my poo samples for the poo test they'll do (検便検査 けんべんけんさ)
便 べん means poo/feces/stool
検査 けんさ test
検 けん by itself means test, so you could read 検便検査 as poo test test if you were being pedantic
for the linux nerds out there 大便 だいべん (daiben, also meaning feces) is close in pronunciation to a certain large distribution that I've heard it's the unofficial name in some quarters
One of my favorite genres of music is the mix of japanese pop and rock with goth elements and aesthetics. My favorite artist in this specific kind of genre is Ali Project, a band that already started in the late 80s or early 90s if we only count the music under that name.
In comparison, the old song I picked is rather new, even if it's ~12 years old. It's my favorite song and was released on the 2011 album Queendom.
@geraineon I'm in love since the early 2000s, when they made the opening for the Anime Noir. I forgot about them for a few years, until I watched the show Another. After that, it turned into a deep dive into the discography.
@liztai I remember when I heard Korean coursemates speak Korean with each other and the part that I could immediately understand was ssi-bal because it sounds almost exactly like cibai and kinda means the same lol
@Jason844 Oh, just realized that said how many beans at a time. Handfuls, definitely. I've seen anime where they throw fistfuls like a major-league pitcher, so I guess have fun.😆
I’ve been semi-casually studying Japanese for around 5 years. I currently live in Japan, but since I already have a remote job for an English-speaking software company, I’ve never had an interest in getting a job for a Japanese company, and having a good level of Japanese was really only ever a matter of convenience and...
Ok, I just did an experiment. I set my computer back to Mon, 11/13/23, 11:30 pm or so, and I tried the USA 1HWs game. I got game #82, which is supposed to be Tuesday's game. But when I set my clock back to 9 pm, I got game #81 (which is the game I missed this week).
I think maybe since you're in Central time, @skullvalanche, and you created the game, that means my computer has to be before midnight Central time (so before 11 pm Eastern) in order to get that day's game. Does that make sense?
And maybe that's why I was a day ahead all week, even on days when I played between 11 pm and midnight Eastern. (I think that was the case for at least some of the days this week.)
@skullvalanche@teamheardle Hmm, but DST changed Sunday, and that was the only day I was on the right game. I noticed that I said in my Sunday post something about finishing "well before midnight."
I might fool around a little more. This is baffling. I'm pretty sure that I didn't go past midnight Eastern every night this week, though the time on my pc may have been manually set most nights.
Also, why did you have game #82 on Monday and not #81? I think you might have been ahead some other nights after that too. i'm not sure.
@mdmrn I have to fully agree with you! I'm not sure if they released my favorite song from Japan this year, but they definitely dropped my favorite album!?
最近はどうですか?I hope you are all doing well. How have your Japanese studies been? Good, I hope. I would love to hear what resources you all are using, as well as how you all are feeling about the process....
