Does anyone have recommendations for a lightweight self hosted alternative to wordpress? I'm done with WP.... I'm at the stage where I'm about to bust out notepad and write some HTML 😂 #CMS#WebDev Please boost for more EYES 👀
Until Wordpress lets us handle their data the way they want, I fail to see that WP can call itself a CMS platform. Main point of consternation is date and future date handling. If I have posts that are set to a future date, maybe I still want to display those on the public area (events anyone?) without needing to install a special plugin for dates. You’re welcome to try and change my mind.
All right nerds, this is your time to shine. I've been thinking about setting up a #blog or three on #Neocities (not stuck on it but it's where I have an account). Are there #StaticSiteGenerators which can handle more than one blog? I would prefer a #CMS style interface but it's fine if it's not available.
I guess what I'm asking is, what is the modern equivalent of Greymatter (RIP), Movable Type, or a self-hosted Wordpress install these days? I mostly want to write and upload easily.
"Although still experimental, it allows users to collaborate in real time on content creation. This feature is part of Phase 3 of Project Gutenberg. Interested users can enable it in the "Experiments" area of the Gutenberg plugin."
I didn't know it could be self-hosted, they also have a generous per project 'free-for-life' tier on their own hosting (Tina Cloud) which would work for many use-cases, up to two users.
I can see this being the CMS I learn and offer future clients, paired with 11ty.
1/2 Speaking of writing articles, this from Paul Scanlon (one of the folks I edit at @TheNewStack) is a good conversation starter: "why a CMS over a file based markdown solution for long form content?"
Paul and I have been emailing back and forth about this. I use #Markdown for my Eleventy site and am fine with it; I usually enter my posts into the Bear app and then copy the MD file over to VS Code to finalize the images, etc. But most content people need and want a WYSIWYG #CMS.

Début du MVC, des templates, et bientôt le multi-lingue !
Hey everyone! 😊 I finally took the plunge and moved to an instance that’s a little more geared to what I’m interested in, so here is my #introduction / #reintroduction.
I’m Amadeus a #designer and #developer from Germany. I dabble in art and game design from time to time and I also used to be quite the avid creative #writer although that aspect of my life has taken a bit of a backseat lately. 😅
Recent projects include a decentralised #CMS and various smaller #apps.
If anyone knows of any funky, straightforward, easy to docker-up flat file #CMS that can do email contact forms I would love suggestions. I'm taking a website off WordPress that needs a contact form, it's a static 4 page business service site and will never change aside from the occasional address and phone number. #webDesign#webDev
Coffee in hand, it's time to give @cloudcannon a spin by plugging it into a site I have nearing completion - guided by no other than the awesome @zachleat
Flat file or SQLite.
Python preferred, PHP tolerated.
No Django, no dependencies on node.js.
Web-based editing.
Form handling included, capable of secure (no CSRF etc.) contact and feedback forms with simple (not perfect) spam prevention.
Took me ~3 hours to create systems both on Notion's side and Eleventy's side to turn Notion into my new headless CMS and it's already so much more powerful than my Ghost installation was.
It also fixes a bunch of issues I had with Ghost so they'll never propagate into my new blog posts.
Amazing what a good flow state and desire for a good blog writing experience drives one to achieve.
OKAY FRIENDS. I'm looking for THE SIMPLEST, most straight-forward #flatfile#CMS. No clever template engine, no plugins, just something that allows me to build a simple HTML website with the basics (text, images, links, chronological "blog" posts, maybe a contact form, if even) and allows several users to contribute to website content.
