James_Ryan, to linux in (Solved) Question about Python-packages

I installed pipx with “zypper install python311-pipx”.

But I can’t find a way to install the damn tkcalendar with it -> pypi.org/project/tkcalendar/

Feeling like an idiot here.

This really cant be that hard…

Any Windows Power Users here?

Is there any FOSS for Windows 10 that isn't super slow and unreliable, has double panels and tabs?

I've tried , and but each of them either can't do basic operations without crashing or requiring me to wait a few seconds.

I thought switching from HDD to M.2 SSD will help - I did not.

sucks - no dual view, no tabs... But all other options fig. make me want to punch the screen.

pyproject-fmt just got a new major release https://github.com/tox-dev/pyproject-fmt/releases/tag/2.0.0 now using rust under the hood (faster and more powerful)

hugovk,
@hugovk@mastodon.social avatar

@kytta @gaborbernat Looking at the main dependency, there are wheels for musl (x86-64 and i686), manylinux (x86-64, s390x, ppc64le, ARMv7l, ARM64, i686) and a couple each for Windows and macOS.

Perhaps musl + ARM64 can be added too?

I've never owned one that didn't come with the welder. But this new welder came with a piece of shit chipping hammer that I just had to get one. I sold all my gear before my last move and I'm slowly gaining it back. Isn't that the most beautiful thing you ever saw right after reading the title? 😂

Did something change about the pattern of @pypi package URLs?

This one works:
https://pypi.io/packages/source/c/catalystcoop.ferc_xbrl_extractor/catalystcoop.ferc_xbrl_extractor-1.3.3.tar.gz

But the newest version doesn't, even though the package installs fine with pip:
https://pypi.io/packages/source/c/catalystcoop.ferc_xbrl_extractor/catalystcoop.ferc_xbrl_extractor-1.4.0.tar.gz

Which is foiling my attempt to update the corresponding @conda forge package
https://github.com/conda-forge/catalystcoop.ferc-xbrl-extractor-feedstock/pull/26

Or is there some kind of caching or CDN thing happening? It's been a few hours since the PyPI package uploaded.

hugovk,
@hugovk@mastodon.social avatar

@ZaneSelvans @pypi @conda

Maybe you should use files.pythonhosted.org instead of pypi.io?

https://pypi.org/project/catalystcoop.ferc-xbrl-extractor/#files has:

https://files.pythonhosted.org/packages/89/e4/45e89bc69bf1b0288cd80461f2068eb182d8b7601de9fedfacb204e724dd/catalystcoop_ferc_xbrl_extractor-1.4.0.tar.gz

See also https://warehouse.pypa.io/api-reference/integration-guide.html#querying-pypi-for-package-urls for the API to query for file locations, and the conveyor service to redirect from a predictable URL to that with the random hash value.

You have a 20×20 grid and only black and white to draw with and everyone shares the same canvas.

Have fun + looking forward to seeing what we all, umm, draw together.

PS. It took about 60 lines of code.

Spent some time today profiling git / 46 again.

Did you ever experience freezing up on you when exiting search mode while inside a folder containing lots of items?

Now we kinda know why: it's exponential! There is an O(n²) amount of filesystem queries occurring when you do that.

Fixing it won't be easy, but I'm excited to think we might be one step closer to getting this performance bug solved: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/3062#note_2041306

Hey Mastodon. What if we could organize/group people we follow into categories? So now I have my recipe people, my photography people, my political people, my arts people, etc., you get the point.
If I'm in the mood I can choose just a category of toots to read, because most likely I'm hungry and need a recipe idea.
Subtoots? Mastotags?

Hey, ,

My work phone died, and I just got a fresh replacement handset. I can't get my most recent Signal messages off the old phone, because it's dead, and also it's not clear that my most recent messages ever made it to the phone, because it's dead. But! I sync Signal to the desktop – that's in fact how I've been using Signal since my phone died, so it has the most up-to-date corpus of messages.

So now I'm trying to get my messages out of my desktop-signal SQLite db.
