Is there any FOSS #FileManager for Windows 10 that isn't super slow and unreliable, has double panels and tabs?
I've tried #Files, #Spacedrive and #DoubleCommander but each of them either can't do basic operations without crashing or requiring me to wait a few seconds.
I thought switching from HDD to M.2 SSD will help - I did not.
#WindowsExplorer sucks - no dual view, no tabs... But all other options fig. make me want to punch the screen.
@kytta@gaborbernat Looking at the main dependency, there are wheels for musl (x86-64 and i686), manylinux (x86-64, s390x, ppc64le, ARMv7l, ARM64, i686) and a couple each for Windows and macOS.
FilePizza is a free peer-to-peer file transfers in your browser. FilePizza never store anything. Because FilePizza uses WebRTC, file transfers ate always fast, private, and secure.
I want to cry tears of #joy. Today for the first time, in my 5 decades of existence, have become the proud owner of a brand new set of #files. And a brand new chipping hammer 🔨 too! I've never owned one that didn't come with the welder. But this new welder came with a piece of shit chipping hammer that I just had to get one. I sold all my gear before my last move and I'm slowly gaining it back. Isn't that the most beautiful thing you ever saw right after reading the title? 😂
My #filemanagement method using 🏷️ is so much more than just a fine solution for #photomanagement. You'll see that it actually addresses many aspects of working with local files in general:
Hey Mastodon. What if we could organize/group people we follow into categories? So now I have my recipe people, my photography people, my political people, my arts people, etc., you get the point.
If I'm in the mood I can choose just a category of toots to read, because most likely I'm hungry and need a recipe idea.
Subtoots? Mastotags? #Categories#Files#ThinkingOutLoud
My work phone died, and I just got a fresh replacement handset. I can't get my most recent Signal messages off the old phone, because it's dead, and also it's not clear that my most recent messages ever made it to the phone, because it's dead. But! I sync Signal to the desktop – that's in fact how I've been using Signal since my phone died, so it has the most up-to-date corpus of messages.
So now I'm trying to get my messages out of my desktop-signal SQLite db.
Your #post had me recall that I used to use some pretty shitty #gifs on my first few #websites, so I went looking thru my #archive for my #collection of #files. Just reading thru the filenames is enough to trigger me, lol 🤣
