"Source close to the Palestinian movement said decision to rule the war-battered enclave must be agreed upon by other Palestinian factions, not imposed by US or Israel"
"Hamas has the political flexibility to accept several formulas... for the future of Gaza. [It is] open to a nationally agreed formula for the good of its people"
"The source said that Hamas would only resume negotiations if Israel stopped the massacres and left Rafah"
Israel will not fully eliminate Hamas in Gaza only weaken them, in the process too many innocent civilians will die, a lot of infrastructure and buildings will be totally destroyed. Israel will have lost many allies and credibility worldwide, nobody denies Israel the right to strike Hamas and destroy them but current Israëli strategy is clearly self defeating. Or not ? #israel#hamas#geopolitics@geopolitics
"The following text is from a pro Netanyahu Israeli media site...
What is your opinion of the current situation in Gaza?"

"The center of Rafah city is in our hands!
1.2 million Palestinians moved up north towards Kahn Yunis. It’s time to destroy ALL tunnels terror infrastructures and the thousands remaining terrorists under the ground." #AureFreePress#News#press#headline#Israel#gaza#Hamas
U.S.-built pier will be removed from Gaza coast and repaired after damage from rough seas.
AP reports: "The setback is the latest for the $320 million pier, which only began operations in the past two weeks and has already had three U.S. service members injured and had four vessels beached due to heavy seas."
“#Israel put forward a new cease-fire proposal and hostage release deal on Monday, which has now been passed on to #Hamas, an Egyptian security source told ABC News.
Mediators are awaiting a response from Hamas within 24 hours, the source said.
This is the first time Israel has taken the first move to submit a draft proposal since the war began, according to the source. Previous proposals have been initiated by Egyptian and Qatari mediators”
"Welcome to the State of Denial. You've arrived in an alternative reality where terrorists have become heroes valiantly battling oppressors, genocidal slogans are triumphant calls for freedom, and the natural response to a terror group that slaughtered 1,200 people and took another 250 hostages is to offer them a state."
Hamas and #Likud have a perverse incentive to keep the war in the #MiddleEast going, at least for now.
NEITHER wants it to be over. #Netanyahu has been signaling transparently that he wants #Biden to lose because #Trump would give #Bibi more latitude in “clearing” #Gaza upon his re-election.
#Israel#Palestine#Hamas#Gaza#Genocide#HumanRights#InternationalLaw: "As early as October 9 top Israeli officials declared that they intended to block the delivery of food, water, and electricity, which is essential for purifying water and cooking. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s words have become infamous: (...) The statement conveyed the view that has seemed to guide Israel’s approach throughout the conflict: that Gazans are collectively complicit for Hamas’s crimes on October 7.
Since then Israel has restricted the number of vehicles allowed to enter Gaza, reduced the number of entry points, and conducted time-consuming and onerous inspections; destroyed farms and greenhouses; limited the delivery of fuel needed for the transport of food and water within the enclave; killed more than two hundred Palestinian aid workers, many of them employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the principal aid provider in the blockaded territory before October 7; and persuaded many donors, including the United States, to stop funding UNRWA by claiming that a dozen of the agency’s 13,000 employees in Gaza were involved in the October 7 attack or have other connections to Hamas. (An investigation by former French foreign minister Catherine Colonna, released on April 22, concluded that Israel had provided no evidence to support its allegations and that UNRWA is “irreplaceable and indispensable.”) The air strikes on April 1 that destroyed all three vehicles in a World Central Kitchen convoy, killing six international aid workers and a Palestinian driver and translator, seemed a continuation of these policies. Israel’s explanation that this was the result of a “misidentification” has aroused skepticism. As a result, other humanitarian groups may be deterred from providing aid.
The cumulative effect of these measures is that many Palestinians—especially young children—are starving."
Perhaps it’s important to say, for those of you not in the same loop I’m in, that my friends & colleagues in Israel are in the streets demonstrating against the war and the corrupt Netanyahu government every day. The families of the hostages are also out in the streets demanding new elections. Every death - Palestinian and Israeli - is heartbreaking.
And for anyone thinking that trump is going to be a great friend to Israel, he’s not. Netanyahu and trump are bit from the same cloth. Both are dangerous.
@rabbijill War is a terrible thing. The deaths of non-combatants are tragic but impossible to avoid. It looks right now like this war has so far produced the lowest non-combatant to combatant mortality ratio in modern history. How many Israeli soldiers, I wonder, have died simply because Israel follows international laws of war and their enemy does not.
I believe even a center-left Israeli government would have fought this war in much same way it’s currently being fought. The terrorists hide among civilians and in UN facilities; they build operational centers under hospitals and place missile launchers in schoolyards. Every dead Palestinian child promotes their cause.
I hope this war is over tomorrow. And it will be, if #Hamas returns the hostages (or more likely their bodies) and puts down its arms. Every casualty on either side is a casualty of Hamas and its continuing devotion to death and disregard for Palestinian lives.
"Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday an airstrike that killed dozens of people at a camp for displaced Palestinians in Rafah, Gaza, was a 'tragic mistake.'"
'After their dismissal of the ICC and ICJ calls on Israel to comply with international law, how can the US and its partners make a convincing case again that their rules are fair and universal, and so must be followed by all? It is brazenly clear that the rules-based order is not about democratic values, the rule of law and the sanctity of human lives, but the observance of a global hierarchy in which some lives are sacred and others are not.' #ICC#israel#hamas#justicehttps://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/27/icc-israel-benjamin-netanyahu-arrest-warrant-us-west
#isreal will not stop pounding #palestine now as the sympathy #terrorists in the #un#icj and around the world try to extract demands using hostage and martyr.
I can't blame Israel for it's actions now. The legacy media world has taken the side of #Hamas. #Israel has nothing to lose and no one will stop them.
#Israel has practically leveled #Gaza and killed tens of thousands of civilians, destroyed infrastructure from schools to hospitals, and is in indefensible position as an occupying power.
Hamas is guilty of war crimes. Had Israel pursued that path and taken that approach...
Probably the most cynical but also widespread manipulation is when #Hamas supporters post photos from #Syria presenting them as photos from #Gaza and #Palestine. Which is quite popular trick, because Assad’s merciless war on Syrian civilians produced thousands of dramatic photos of ruined towns and people bombed, executed or poisoned with chemical weapons. If you search for “killed Arab civilians” to feed your daily posting schedule, you will mostly find photos from Syria. Most absurdly, people like Jackson Hinkle support Assad and Russia and condemn killing of Arabs in Palestine at the same time…
No argument can stop Israel’s bloodthirsty leaders. The only thing I can think of is to re-run the BDS/boycott playbook that was deployed against South Africa. Start with the Olympics?
>> No argument can stop Israel’s bloodthirsty leaders. The only thing I can think of is to re-run the #BDS/#boycott playbook that was deployed against #SouthAfrica
Nothing shows your anti-#Israel bias more than that statement. Couldn’t start with bloodthirsty #Hamas?
