Dresses were the norm for boys in 100+ years ago, and the color pink was a color for boys as well.
Oh yea and in the 1700s it was normal fashion for men to wear high heels.
But hey, lets make up whatever fake history we want to make gender norms sound like they have always been the same and that "cross dressing" and "drag" are somehow new inventions.
The growing controversy in the N.B. legislature stemmed from N.B.'s review of & changes to Policy 713, which established minimum standards for schools to ensure a safe, welcoming & inclusive environment for LGBTQ students
This month is my 5th wedding anniversary. My wife and I grew up in conservative Abrahamic faiths in Southeast Asia and, somehow when we found each other all hell did not break loose; our families accepted us, and now we are able to build a life we could have only dreamed off, far far away from home.
The Kiwis married us, and the Californians gave us a home. We are thankful. Immigrant life has been immensely difficult, but ultimately worth it.
At the instigation of @jessica and other trans and queer siblings, my ADHD has compelled me to assemble a basic guide or primer on LGBTQ+ Media, Literature, and Culture for those getting their footing in our community. This is not authoritative, this just one rando queer trans gal's perspective on the keys to queer culture and art.
This will be very loosely organized and potentially chaotic...do not be afraid, my brain is just weird. Also, once the whole thread is up, feel free to add your own notes on key artists, media, moments, and more.

I would love to undertand better the reason/psychology/development of some homosexual men to speak in that distinctive way of speaking that seems exclusive to gay men. Like it isnt an accent, and doesnt seem to occur naturally since its exclusive to that group. Do gay men make it a point to learn to speak that way at some point? If so why?
My best guess is as a way to show their orientation publicly to signal to other gay men, in an effort to creat connections or find companions that are also gay? But that would imply its a conscious thing they learnedto do at some point?
PS please no inconsiderate responses. Be respectful people.

A month ago I shared a #colorful#romantic scene with a man and a woman and a commenter here said they'd like to see something similar with two men instead. This is a result of that challenge. ❤️
Look, if a community uses rainbow colors for their logo in support of Pride Month and LGBTIQA* folks, and you object to it because this is not welcoming of all "religions" and beliefs and cultures, and how this makes you want to disengage - how do I politely put it?
You're the other target audience for this signaling. And it's working.
Xinyu Wen traveled to Thailand in June, planning a two-week vacation around Bangkok’s Pride parade. But the 28-year-old ended up staying a month and a half, soaking up the Thai capital’s thriving LBGTQ+ community.
In the 19th century there was a panic about masturbation and its effect on the nation on both sides of the Atlantic.
At the beginning of the 20th century there was a panic about women's liberation, in sex and politics, destroying society.
By the mid 20th century there was a panic about sexual liberation and free love.
Later, in the 70s and 80s, there was a gay panic and gays were presented as predators and deviants.
Now, in the early 21st century, there is a trans panic and its trans and non-binary people who are seen as the social threat.
These are five separate panics across over 150 years, But, actually, they're not separate at all: they are the same panic generated by the same people that comes again and again and again in waves. Its a panic generated by the sexually puritan and socially authoritarian whose politics is that of coercion and control.
This tendency is the ultimate enemy of all lovers of social and personal freedom.
Sometimes I think straight people speak for us when they say there's no homophobia or transphobia in the SF Bay Area, when in fact, queer folks know there's no such thing as no homophobia or transphobia, including in the SF Bay Area
