Question! Why should local governments use taxpayers’ money to buy proprietary, closed software from a single vendor? And what happens to citizens' data? A solution is to move to free and open source software like and – which is exactly what Schleswig-Holstein is doing: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/04/04/german-state-moving-30000-pcs-to-libreoffice/

Look! A feature you may not know about 😉 When exporting a the "Hybrid PDF" option embeds the original file. Then anyone with a PDF reader can view the file – and LibreOffice users can edit it too: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Writer/PDF_Hybrid#What_is_a_hybrid_PDF_file?

Dear Fediverse / Mastodon

I need your help.

I stumbled upon the website of a French consultancy who worked on LibreOffice accessibility, but I cannot find it anymore.

Any idea?

Boost appreciated :boost_love:

Thanks!

I said everything is better with a mascot, right? 😁

I learned that Tyson Tan, the artist that, among other things, did the KDE and Krita mascot, also designed a mascot, Libbie, for LibreOffice, but the mascot contest was cancelled because stuff wasn't "professional enough" or something. BUT all his art was available, thus, I took inspiration by this (outdated) project https://github.com/sdomi/libbieoffice and set my own Libbie Splash & Icons with his artwork.

Download and info in reply.

Folder with the LibreOffice shortcuts. Each individual icon has been replaced with a different-coloured depiction of Libbie, each showing the corresponding colours of the original application.

The buffer overflow bug that caused all the major browsers to issue patches earlier this week (e.g. 117.0.1) also affects applications built with Electron. issued an update today for their Mac build.

The CVE affects the underlying webp library, not just web browsers, so this will be an ongoing issue.

"Who uses ?
"There are a lot of applications that use libwebp to render WebP images, I already mentioned a few of them, but some of the others that I know include: (the design software), , Inkscape [not according to Martin Owens, see comment below], , , (now patched), , and many, many applications as well as cross-platform apps built with ."
