In memory of Lewis Allan Reed, American musician, guitarist, singer and main songwriter of the proto punk / rock band The Velvet Underground, passed away today in 2013 at the age of 71.
Lou Reed died almost exactly a decade ago. There've been several biographies of him written since, but perhaps none so exhaustive as Will Hermes's "Lou Reed: The King of New York," which covers his journey from Long Island boy to rock star, acknowledging throughout Reed's famous hatred of being written about. This Air Mail review offers a taste of the book.
