The second expansion for Barren Planet is Waterworld. Dapra's neighbouring planet Dalen is over 95% covered with water. And at the bottom of these oceans: crystal nodes! Let battle commence! Get it at http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/7/barren-planet.

Air Fighters are another unit brought over from Dapra. They can fly over anything except volcanoes, whose eruptions are too dangerous for airborne traffic to venture near. Air Fighters have a longer attack range than Hoverbugs or Ports.

@cyningstan@mastodon.social avatar

Destroyers are the smallest sea combat units. They have little firepower and a short range, but are lightly armoured. They can navigate both deep and shallow water, although they can't navigate too close to the sandbanks.

cyningstan,
@cyningstan@mastodon.social avatar

Battleships are the largest ships afloat. They have more power and a longer range than cruisers, and are the best units to have in a sea battle. They are also good for offshore bombardment.

cyningstan,
@cyningstan@mastodon.social avatar

Gun Platforms are static land-based units, useful for defending ports. They're static units, but they have a longer firing range than any other unit in the game, so can keep enemy ships away from your Ports.

As you'd expect for a campaign called "Waterworld", most of the maps are made up of ocean. But there are small areas of land that poke up above the ocean surface, and there is a variety of terrain there.

The eight baronies in The Anarchic Kingdom take the names of eight noble families of medieval England. Take control of one of them at http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/64/the-anarchic-kingdom

The terrain on the horizon in The Anarchic Kingdom is purely decorative, but differs for every barony. So it's easy to visually spot your own barony when paging through the landscapes. http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/64/the-anarchic-kingdom

Land in The Anarchic Kingdom is the measure of your success. It also influences how many peasants your barony can support: when you gain land, people move in. Play at http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/64/the-anarchic-kingdom

A Team Droid level is made up of a number of different cells, some helpful, some not. The two most basic elements are floors and walls. All droids can travel smoothly over floors. But nothing can pass through (or over) a wall. http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/129/team-droid

A teleporter will beam your robot to the nearest alternative teleporter. It will do the same for items, too. So in levels with multiple robots, you can use them to pass items around. http://dos.cyningstan.org.uk/downloads/129/team-droid

If you ever saw a pixel-perfect screenshot from a virtual machine running MS-DOS in the default VGA text mode, you probably noticed that it looks slightly off.

The characters are too wide, and the whole image seems stretched.

But did you know that what you’re seeing is a perfect representation of the actual image, while your monitor from 1995 was deceiving you? Let’s have a closer look.

In rebuilding this 486 computer, I had to make an incredibly difficult decision. And this is something that only I could decide...

Do I install 6.22 in English from genuine original floppy disks?

Or do I install the the French version like I had back in those days, but from downloaded images?

It took me days to make my mind, but in the end I've opted for the French version. Nostalgia won against the urge to use original medias 😄

In 1994, our puzzle game Clockwiser was released for Amiga (OCS and AGA), CD32 console, MS-DOS and Windows 3.1.

This is the 4-channel music our composer Ramon Braumuller made for a 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 that was included on magazine cover disks.

The tune is 109 kilobytes, including digitized instruments.

We wanted the music to be relaxing, as there's time-based pressure to solve the puzzles.

Hello everyone! Your favorite fedibirdy is back over here on thesocial.zone!

My main area of interest is gaming- particularly . I adore the era up through the early 00s. Games like DooM, Duke3D, Quake, EverQuest, and Starsiege Tribes.

and bring me so much joy. As I've aged I find myself stereotypically looking back to my childhood and missing it immensely. I was quite the nerd falling in love with computers the moment I could connect to local BBS on my mom's work PC. I put that i386 9600baud Hayes machine through its paces.

is another love of mine. Every week I watch at least one horror film, and I never grow tired of them. It's the only film genre I continuously am excited for.

And, of course, ! These precious animals mean the world to me. They bring me peace and happiness just simply watching them from my living room window. Ever since a pair of sparrows nested in my garage many years ago have I been enamored with them.
