OKAY. Stopping point on the Northshore Bike Map, connecting the latest Seattle and brand new Eastside map.
I've added everything I know and I've stumbled upon a bunch of things I didn't before. This has been educational.
I've also labelled a bunch of stuff, added replacement labels for certain attractions that had their labels obscured, and made a couple of corrections.
I'm not including the sidewalk/path hybrid along Ballinger because while sometimes it sure does feel like a path most of the time it's just "sidewalk."
DO YOU KNOW ROUTES I DON'T?
Tell me about them! But only if they're public. I've not included a couple of trails here because they're private.
Soundgarden's 'Superunknown' still sounds just as amazing as it did when I bought the CD from Circuit City in 1994 when I was 14. Easily one of the greatest albums of all time. That day, I bought my first 3 CDs ever -- the others being Jar of Flies and Versus. What a YEAR for music 1994 was.
Wanted: a small, finite number of RSS feeds I can follow to make sure I don't miss new concert announcements in #seattle. So far, The Stranger's / EverOut's feed has been quite good, but there's still a lot of stuff at Nectar, Neumos, et al. that doesn't get listed there.
The hummingbird feeder was frozen. I cleaned it out and made new nectar and I took it outside.
The hummingbird was so cold and hungry IT CAME TO THE FEEDER WHILE I WAS HOLDING IT. Before I even hung it back up.
Jury rigged an "easy bake" style heater to keep the nectar from freezing (my last incandescent put to good use... i'm monitoring the temp with an infrared thermometer). Superclamp involved, of course. So useful.
Cities keep being surprised by #climate-aggravated emergencies. #NewYork was not ready for the #smoke emergency.
"#Wildfire smoke experts said that it would have been difficult to foresee such dramatic impacts but that #ClimateChange is also reshaping natural hazards at a startling pace."
"#Seattle did not have a specific plan for #heatwaves in June 2021, when temperatures soared to 108."
The latest date to be added on the unannounced winter Shabaka Hutchings tour is: #Seattle Town Hall 2/22/24. The only two other known US dates are the "album debut" on 1/15 in NYC, and the Newmark show here in #PDX on 2/23.
There's no info about the album is or who is on it, or who will play these west coast dates. Shabaka is IMO the best live performer in music today so I don't care, but the NYC show includes Brandee Younger and Esperanza Spalding 🤞
If you've visited either of these and have any tips or tricks for optimizing the experience, please let me know! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
lots of things about the past two a half years have been terrible, physically, emotionally, and esp. financially
but seeing people send photos back of our #SatanicAntifascism fundraising stickers or flags in places around #Seattle and other cities sometimes literally around the world has been really amazing
Running an " email over #hamradio " station from a #Seattle Fire Dept. battalion station for this morning's earthquake response exercise. Part of my volunteer work with https://www.seattleacs.org
(simulating a quake and internet outage and assisting to coordinate incident response)
I have an eBike with a standard chain. It's a Class 1 Bulls, meaning pedal assist only, and most actual use is as a rather heavy standard bike.
My use is a mix of errands and commuting. The assist is great for cargo, when I have to get someplace far-ish as fast as I possibly can, and I when I'm biking up my BRUTAL HILL, which is the kind of hill that's steep enough in parts that automobile drivers complain about it.
Given this kind of usage, what's a good bio degreaser and what's a good lubricant for my chain?
realised yesterday I hadn’t actually gone down 68th (Aidine) in #Kenmore since they put in the new bridge so here it is from the far side looking back north - it’s very nice!
Mastodon, I need your help. I'm looking to relocate to a new instance to start off the new year but there's so many to choose from. What's a good fit for me? I'm a #scottish expat, currently living in #Seattle. I toot about #politics, #music, #poetry, running a #smallbusiness, and the occasional #meme. I am a member of the #lgbtq community, and a proud #trans woman. I have two #cats and a #husband who I love dearly and in very different ways. I tend to post with a heavy dose of #wit &/or #snark.
visiting Seattle next week for my son's spring break, we'll be staying downtown, not going to have a car (but the whole family loves walking/taking trains places), we might do a boat tour one day, will definitely take the monorail (yes know it barely goes anywhere), probably the requisite Space Needle, and Pacific Science Center (has a reciprocal arrangement with our local Tech Interactive) what other kid friendly things should we do? (geeky kid/parent friendly things) #seattle#parenting
86% of #Indigenous people in America live outside reservations, often in cities like #Denver, #Seattle and #Portland, where they resettled following the Relocation Act (hi 👋 ).
Indigenous people comprise 2.6% of America’s population, but in 2023, they accounted for 3.9% of those experiencing homelessness. And the #housing inequity is worse in Western cities.
But building affordable housing for Natives is tricky.
