I am conflicted by @mozilla content policies announcement. I appreciate that a lot of thought went into it, but I think they could be used to eliminate a lot of necessary social tension.

An example is their violent content policy: “Users may not share content that depicts abuse of humans or animals, or that includes excessively gory or violent imagery that…can disturb other users.

I am a lifelong and I’ve been for 20 years. Photos of meat/dead animals disturb me. Am I to assume then that sharing this content will be banned in that instance? And if not, why not?

Also, nothing on who will be content. Is it volunteers, staff, external contractors??

Mozilla is a very well-funded nonprofit with almost $75 million dollars in assets. If any organization can scale a instance, it is them. Yet even they are replicating the model of outsourcing moderation.

Outsourced moderators will be denied Mozilla's famous world-class benefit packages AND all the rights non-contracted workers are entitled to. Thanks to Prop 22, they could even be gig workers or perma-temps.

This is a real shame.

I cannot remove that account, FB forms are not working and it seems the only way to delete that account is to PROVIDE scanned document of my ID, which will not match the said account and it’s my ID I don’t want to share with Facebook. Fuck you, Suckerberg. I hope you rot in agony along with your shitty scam company.🤡

I am seeing people share things and news links intended to persuade or outrage people.

When I look to see what sources are cited, for corroboration, so on and so forth, there is nil. I've done this for roughly about 90% of the things I ran into via the the Explore tab, & I turned up nothing 60% of the time.

This makes me want to use less & less.

Another thing I realized yesterday is that I've been holding back on fully embracing Mastodon as my social media home. I've felt so burned by monetizing its users that my profile there is filled with fake info, and I rarely post there anymore...especially anything personal. I basically only keep the account around to check in on friends and family.

Here, I don't feel like a product; I feel comfortable opening up a bit more. It's been taking some adjustment, to say the least!

WordPress.com: Why Auto-Sharing Is Coming to an End

For WordPress.com and users, Twitter will no longer be part of Jetpack Social. However, we’re adding and very soon. In the meantime, auto-sharing to Tumblr, , and still works as expected, and you can continue sharing your blog post links on Twitter manually through their app or desktop site.

The idea here is that he'll get rent for the shop-fronts, while also getting a cut off all the transactions...

realcaseyrollins,

@unattributed That actually sounds like a good idea considering how much people use social media; but, we've never seen this done successfully because (both and have failed at this).

But, I was mostly referring to trying to become a home for articles. I doubt it will find a way to integrate them well; it's still a microblogging platform at heart, after all.

The idea of charging per article is pretty cool though.
