The Ascent (1977) might be the coldest film I've ever seen

And I have seen The Great White Silence (1924), The Thing (1982), Zero Kelvin (1995), and Godland (2022), all fantastic

What's your favourite freezing ?

Last night, I saw a most remarkable movie: Nothing but a Man. It’s a 1964 microbudget indie that offers a whitewash-free look at the complexities of black life in the Deep South. It features, among others, Yaphet Kotto, Gloria Foster (Oracle from The Matrix), and jazz singer Abbey Lincoln. Its soundtrack was the first LP ever released by Motown. It is a wonder.

I recommend , a wonderful animated feature about a and their friend in 80s new york. Not a word is spoken, no kitsch, no fake nostalgia. A funny, moving take on friendships and how they change over time and sometimes make room for something new.

I maintain my position that EO is a remake of the 1989 French BAXTER, they just swapped out the English Bull Terrier with a donkey.

BRB, getting lost in film for the next 12 weeks.

Watching indie films outside is one of my favorite parts of the summer. Last night's opener was in a graveyard & the season includes screenings on warehouse rooftops, ferry piers, and parks across all five boroughs.

Beyond just the setting, part of why I live in is the chance to see movies that will never be picked up for distribution. Short films, weird animations, insanely-heavy topics; there is so much incredible art being made
