Last night, I saw a most remarkable movie: Nothing but a Man. It’s a 1964 microbudget indie that offers a whitewash-free look at the complexities of black life in the Deep South. It features, among others, Yaphet Kotto, Gloria Foster (Oracle from The Matrix), and jazz singer Abbey Lincoln. Its soundtrack was the first LP ever released by Motown. It is a wonder. #film
I recommend #robotdreams , a wonderful animated feature about a #dog and their #robot friend in 80s new york. Not a word is spoken, no kitsch, no fake nostalgia. A funny, moving take on friendships and how they change over time and sometimes make room for something new. #film#cinema
