Today, we had a largish raid group of 11+ to take on an #OriginFormePalkia in - it turned out to be a good raid.

Just for fun, my strongest ditto was backing up my mega salamence who was in #1 position. Turns out that the ditto's shapeshift did not cancel out my salamance's mega form which was a happy surprise 😁

I won the Raid Buddy award but the ditto doesn't show up alas 😞 #PokemonGo #PokemonGoTour2024

A formal announcement has not been made, however, a presidential decree is expected by the end of the week.

Ireland has prided itself on neutrality and commitment to multilateral institutions, but the current government in Dublin is preparing a major change.

As multiple international conflicts test the West's resolve to support the international order, Ireland is on the brink of fundamentally changing its policy toward global security.

Why the Election Commission Should Not Just Be Neutral but Also Transparent

The PMO’s summoning or ‘inviting’ of election commissioners in December 2021 was in violation of the Constitution, irrespective of how important or urgent the issue.

Rethinking neutrality in Europe.

Urho Kekkonen, Finland’s president from 1956 to 1982, once observed: “There are as many kinds of neutrality as there are neutral states.”

Now, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, neutrality is either going out of fashion or stirring up controversy.

Austria, Ireland, Malta and Switzerland will probably not join Nato but changes in defence and security policies are coming.

BaronD,

@europesays As far as I know, those Leopard 1 tanks have never been stationed in Switzerland, they were entirely produced in Italy by the Swiss arms manufacturer Ruag, or its subsidiary. Nonetheless, the Swiss government has vetoed this deal allegedly due to the incompatibility with the law on arms exports, and neutrality. For me as a European acting Swiss, this is scandalous, b/c Switzerland is actively deceiving int'l law.

Most so-called centrists are conservatives who are either too ignorant or too dishonest to admit that's what they're doing.

Wanting health care and thinking that drugs or same-sex marriage should be legal but being right wing on everything else isn't being moderate. Those viewpoints are literally what conservatives in most countries believe.

We need more people to distinguish between conservatism and reactionism. Not being a reactionary doesn't make you a moderate.

TruthSandwich,

@mattsheffield

The media is supposed to be objective, not neutral or centrist.

Objective: “They sky is blue. This is both the consensus of relevant scientists and something anyone can see for themselves by looking out the window. In fact, I just looked right now, and it was blue. Go look if you’re skeptical.”

Neutrality is: “Some people say that the sky is blue, others say that it’s on fire, and still others say it’s satanic. This reporter remains dutifully neutral and refuses to look out the window. Instead, we’ll simply say that the condition of the sky is controversial and disputed.”

Centrism is: “The far left says the sky is burning due to global warming. The far right says the sky is satanic due to gays and transsexuals. In the interest of centrism, we conclude that the sky is burning with satanic fires. We’re going to ignore the fact that the sky is blue.”

So to ask that question, “Who have we not thought about; whose harms, whose needs, whose voice has been, perhaps speaking, but unheeded, for a very long time? And how do we ensure that the things that they have called out as potential sites of failure, don’t go unremarked, don’t go unaddressed.'
