Any recommendation for a VPS hosting where you can install #archlinux?

It's for personal usage so something cheap and light.

If you have homebrew - update immediately:
$ brew update; brew upgrade

xz 5.5 or newer is compromised. This will downgrade to 5.4. CVE: 10 - max score for vulnerability! Retoot for reach!

I've been monitoring my Mastodon instance with BetterStack and set up new and more precise alerts lately. Got continously an alert like this:

proxy_buffer_size 4096 is not enough for cache key, it should be increased to at least 5120

I did not have proxy_buffers and related settings set up at all.

This blog post helped me in this regard: https://bavatuesdays.com/some-initial-mastodon-instance-tweaking/

Sadly this didn't seem to cut it. I still get randomly:

cache file "/var/cache/nginx/4/53/ad751e870e1c4a778ededb7d276ae534" has too long header

Any tips?

It's kinda mesmerizing watching the core speeds on one of the i7-12700Ts in the Cluster (the one that runs Tiggi.es presently) dynamically shift cores anywhere from 1400Mhz to 4.62GHz quickly, and on an as-needed basis. The low base speed saves energy, but it'll instantly pop cores up to speeds within its thermal/power limit envelope, so for lightly-threaded workloads, it can perform as well as beefier chips.

Screen grab of "watch -n0 "grep Hz /proc/cpuinfo" off of a Proxmox node. 20 logical CPU cores with a base of 1400MHz flickering up to as high as 4.62GHz per core as processes require it.

I'm thinking about a used laptop for use as a -based dev and maintenance device (writing , console-ing into and gear, etc.) I haven't been in the GUI Linux world in ages, so what would folks recommend? I'm particularly interested in decent off-the-shelf compatibility from major distros, as I'm no longer in the "build your own toaster just because you can" phase of my computing life. 🙃

I see rising amount of spam accounts on inactive servers. People should continue using and upkeeping their servers, otherwise they end up being hives for spammers. This is like a textbook case of how not to set up servers. You should not set up and forget. It's constant work.

The list grows. Anyone can setup a server or an instance, and it seems Japanese Spammers have done just that. Few users, few real names, I just block the whole domain. If you're using it, you should move.

If you've been considering any of the Zima Cube servers, especially the non-Pro N100 model, you may want to re-consider based on the PCIe topology and constraints.

At this point, I'd rather go down the road of finding an elusive Intel N300 or N305 board and sticking that into a Jonsbo N3 case.
