The procurement guidance also seeks to sideline #Microsoft's #Windows operating system and foreign-made database software in favour of domestic options
It's kinda mesmerizing watching the core speeds on one of the i7-12700Ts in the #Proxmox Cluster (the one that runs Tiggi.es presently) dynamically shift cores anywhere from 1400Mhz to 4.62GHz quickly, and on an as-needed basis. The low base speed saves energy, but it'll instantly pop cores up to speeds within its thermal/power limit envelope, so for lightly-threaded workloads, it can perform as well as beefier chips. #homelab#servers#cpu
I'm thinking about a used laptop for use as a #Linux-based dev and maintenance device (writing #rustlang, console-ing into #servers and #network gear, etc.) I haven't been in the GUI Linux world in ages, so what would folks recommend? I'm particularly interested in decent off-the-shelf compatibility from major distros, as I'm no longer in the "build your own toaster just because you can" phase of my computing life. 🙃
This is a mindblowing read. I know shit about #hardware, #servers, remote accessing physical servers, #homelab... literally my first encounter with this topic, and this was so good, so happy for the author that they now made it a to a full-fledged product: https://mtlynch.io/tinypilot/
I see rising amount of spam accounts on inactive servers. People should continue using and upkeeping their servers, otherwise they end up being hives for spammers. This is like a textbook case of how not to set up servers. You should not set up and forget. It's constant work.
The list grows. Anyone can setup a server or an instance, and it seems Japanese Spammers have done just that. Few users, few real names, I just block the whole domain. If you're using it, you should move.
The #HTTP Garden is a collection of HTTP #servers and #proxies configured to be composable, along with scripts to interact with them in a way that makes finding #vulnerabilities much much easier.
If you've been considering any of the Zima Cube servers, especially the non-Pro N100 model, you may want to re-consider based on the PCIe topology and constraints.
At this point, I'd rather go down the road of finding an elusive Intel N300 or N305 board and sticking that into a Jonsbo N3 case.
@realTuckFrumper ...and if you don't have enough sense to leave X, you'll just be kicked out by the bossclown.🤪
Question remains: Why are they still there anyway? The internet is bigger than a former wellknown/respected platform.
