Explore the wilder, more #experimental side of my work with Metaphysical Shitposting, an evolving collection (new tracks added about once a month) of #drone, #ambient and #soundscape pieces, with the occasional splash of musique concrete, #kosmische and #noise mixed in to keep things interesting.
Friends, followers and musically curious onlookers, I could really use some listens today! I'm an independent #musician who makes weird, #psychedelic#ElectronicMusic for listening to from the couch. If you're new to my oeuvre, this is the best place to start:
If you're already familiar with that one, and/or like your #WeirdMusic a little more in the #drone, #ambient and #soundscape vein, your next stop is Metaphysical Shitposting, which you'll find here:
Ten minutes of #weird, shifting drum-machine rhythms, splashes of noise and atonal #soundscape full of scrapes and whines. Has an unsettled and unsettling vibe that would almost work as an avant garde horror score. Definitely not for everyone, but I think the people who are going to appreciate it are already convinced to give it a try, so what else can I say?
LOL, just found an EP called I Ate Acid on Christmas. I should reach out and see if the person wants to do a split release of this and my track "I Always Love Tripping at Xmas"...
Here's mine (weird #experimental#soundscape featuring a fake "sleigh bell" sample mutilated beyond all reason), for reference:
As promised, here's some free download codes! First up, a baker's dozen codes for my #psychedelic#scifi post-industrial electro-dub concept album Psychedelic Ghost Stories.
Then you can slake your (audio) thirst with a long, cool drink of Metaphysical Shitposting, a woolly, loose-limbed journey thru #kosmische, #ambient, #noise and #soundscape. #Experimental and #weird but always a delight (I hope).
Same deal, listen & redeem the codes via the link at lower right
I bookmarked this artist years ago simply because my doggo’s name is also Kira, and because they’re from Iceland. New album dropped and I’m very glad I bookmarked them, lovely music for when I don’t want to leave bed just yet on a Saturday.
"The video "Intermodal" provides a minimalist portrayal of this critical yet awe-inspiring spectacle. Through its static shots of cargo ships being loaded & unloaded, the video highlights the overwhelming sense of anxiety that these operations can produce, while inviting viewers to contemplate their complicity in a system that values profit margins, speed and efficiency over people and the planet"
If you haven't checked out Metaphysical Shitposting in a while (or ever), now is a great time! It's up to 5 tracks, and still just $3! BUT the 6th track is nearly done, and when I upload it, the price will go to $5. If you buy now, at $3, you get the whole album, no matter how big it gets or how much it ends up costing! WHAT A BARGAIN!
Should i call it a music radio play?
However, here is the
A scream into The Radio Klotestad radio show!
This episode is even more epic than previous ones, thanks to all the excellent artists: XymMusic / @rybson , Moloko, Chelsea Wolfe, Legowelt, Autechre, Këkht Aräkh, YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA, Offworld, Mistral, Hélène Vogelsinger, 070 Shake, Ken Carson, Flock of Nazguls / @flockofnazguls and of course my humble but also epic self who pasted everything together (and even contributed a song🙂).
Today's the day: I'm presenting about Soundscape, Openscape, and the general class of app at the first AT confrence held by the New York Public Library. Nervus but incredibly excited. I'll post a link here in a bit. #ATNYC#soundscape#openscape
Another blast from the past, "Schizophrenia Simulator OST" is inspired by an ancient installation in Second Life (anyone here remember/still enjoy Second Life?). See, one of the things I was first introduced to in that particular "game"/metaverse was the Schizophrenia Simulator exhibit, which was made by some researchers into the illness to demonstrate what the subjective experience of suffering from the disorder was like.
It made an impression on me! So much so that, years later, when I created a track full of creepy overlapping synth tones and intermittent garbled voices, my thought was, "Sounds like a soundtrack for that old Second Life schizophrenia exhibit..." and thus it was so!
In any case, it's a really slowly unfolding piece with a fair bit of subtle depth to it. Great for headphones!
How does a city sound? It's an issue we often take for granted. My students, Juliane Hirz, Carl-Philipp Bodenstein, and Marvin Alfa, from @univienna, have developed an interesting #soundscape project on Vienna's #Donauinsel.
Via the link below, you can explore the sound map and discover the diverse #soundscapes of this relatively quiet corner of #Vienna.
This week, I'm highlighting some of my older work, focusing on the ambient/soundscape releases. Today, let's listen to Haunted Space Objects Catalog Three!
There are 3 tracks on this release. They're all slow burn soundscapes with subtle musicality. Washes of harmony and timbre filter through bursts of scattered noise. There's a constant sense of movement, but toward... what, exactly?
