Grey Squirrel: A squirrel sits on it's haunches on an old wooden fence post, in front of bushes and trees. A #wander at #ParcSlip #NatureReserve today yielded lots of #Lichen, #Robin(s), #HighlandCow(s) and some #Autumnal vistas. Unfortunately the Jays and Kingfisher did a good job of avoiding my lens but were nice to see nevertheless

I love when tree roots create cozy little nooks or twist around rocks.

Tree root on a sandy bank creates a tiny cavern.
Exposed tree roots along a riverbank has had soil eroded away. The tree holds fast to the remaining rocks, soil, and roots of its neighbours.
An especially burled tree roots shows stout and twisty roots growing away from its base.

MushROOMS (and moss)!

Solitary mushroom with a light brown buttony top grows between the twisty arms of a tree root among moss and fallen leaves.
Mushroom with a red top and white trunk/underside grows from a bed of green mosses. Some critter has done a small nibble on the mushroom.
A tree trunk is covered with almost scale-like small mushrooms.

Not to be outdone, lichen was well represented too. A crow even dropped a bundle of beard lichen onto the hood of the truck.

There were rock walls, stumps, pebbles and large boulders the size of large boulders covered in moss.

The top of a tree stump is covered in a thin layer if mosses in a small glade of rhododendrons. A stream flows in the background.
The railroad log of an abandoned train trestle has weathered and created a shallow trough that is collecting small detritus and growing small plants and mosses.
Tiny patch of verdant moss grows in the crevasse of a small rock. A tiny seedling is sprouting up at the edge of the moss.

Day 8

Contrairement aux idées reçues, les sorcières élémentaires en communiquent pas avec les animaux comme on le fait entre être humain. Pas de papote autour d'un cake aux noisettes avec les écureuils à l'heure du thé , de discussion philosophique par nuit de pleine Lune avec les hiboux ou de débat sur les mérites croisés, pour le système digestif de la menthe sauvage et de l'ail des ours, avec la famille lapin en binant le potager.

Maîtresse Gemma, la mère de Marjorie, est une citadine contrariée. Elle aime flâner, dans l'anonymat relatif des rues, l'ambiance confinée, la distance qui se creuse avec le ciel. La ville atténue les pouvoirs des sorcières, elle exige plus d'efforts pour exercer. Gemma s'est rapidement rendu compte qu'une vie urbaine ne conviendrait jamais à Marjorie. Mais souvent, elle prend qq jours pour arpenter des rues au gré de son humeur.

A in the hills and today, with a circular walk along (the alternative route of) the between and and back again.

Met a very obliging on the way to the picturesque ruin of the 14th Century .

The last picture is a panoramic shot (so click, zoom and pan), showing part of the plant, which is prominent in the UK news at the moment

Capel Mair: Looking up a grass and bracken covered slope towards the Eastern end of a ruined grey stone chapel. Both arched end walls are largely intact, with some stone details around the large windows still visible. The side walls are more damaged, with the closer one to the camera mostly fallen down. The sky is a deep blue with a high thin covering of white cloud breaking up

Today's along the had a distinctly feeling about it as I tried to avoid the rain and headed for the, not so pretty parts of
