So, I had surgery.

All those food issues I’ve increasingly suffered over the last 3-4 years now appear to be the result of a bowel blockage caused by surgical scar tissue that has formed since 2017.

I nearly waited too long to investigate & I am so grateful my surgeon pressured me to let him do surgery.

He operated laparoscopically and WAS DONE IN 45 MINUTES.

I lost 120 pounds trying to solve food-related issues, but if I had not, this quick surgery could not have been possible.

@snarkysteff @SRDas You have been a beacon for those on here who are health minded and working to resolve issues that relate to diet, exercise. My friend who is scheduled for surgery, also lost over 100 lbs trying to sort out the issue. Her surgery scar was from a C-Section. (I had always been suspicious). So bravo and good on you. Here’s to your healing, strengthening journey walking into the sunlight!

Pondering the parallels between the Christian myth of Adam and Eve approaching a tree with a snake in it and attaining knowledge of good and evil, with the snake and the gained knowledge seen as evil; and the Buddhist myth (new to me) of Mucalinda, meaning the Buddha also sat under a tree with a snake and there also attained enlightenment but here the knowledge so gained is good and the snake is seen as a protector

Could invent some really fun heresies by developing this line of thought further

@mcc I was kicked out at age 7 for asking “the wrong questions” in catechism. My older brother was kicked out too. I asked him why. He shrugged his shoulders and said: “For being related to you. What the hell did you do?” So, you could try asking a question they don’t like.

I read one of those "kitchen gadgets no one needs" articles a few days ago. The author panned the battery-operated salt & pepper mills especially those with a LED work light. The article was pushing manual grinders.

Just used my rechargable grinders with lights. No need turn on overhead lights. Arthritic hands also appreciated the electric grinders, too. TB fair the article allowed that arthritis was a reason for using electricity.

What do you think about lighted grinders?

I have a pretty developed and deliberate approach to the photos I make, in that I generally have a fairly clear vision of the final result I want to achieve when I'm capturing something, even for details like contrast and tonality.

Except for color toning. I almost never have any idea whether I will add a sepia tint or whatever. I'm totally ad hoc and inconsistent about this, and I often go back and forth several times before settling on a final version.

@ai6yr Years ago, before social media, a neighbor had their entire house cleaned out. Someone posted a “Free Furniture! Moving Overseas” notice in the local paper, broke in, unlocked the doors… people showed up, 3 hrs later, house was cleaned out. Those free tickets to Disney World … (Pretty sure it was the ex who did it)

@DemocracySpot Mine always looked at me: “Make it stop”. Except for one. She LOVED getting wet and would run around in the rain biting raindrops and leaping. It was hysterical, and messy. (She was a lot brighter than you’d guess from this, but she loved all weather)
