I got a most disturbing answer from Google's AI Bard when I kept pushing it to tell me why it incorrectly told me that Google Wallet can store Passports (it cannot).

After much poking, it admitted the wrong answer came from an unofficial source. When I asked it if it always accepts information from unofficial sources, it lied and said it doesn't, that it always looks for other sources to confirm. So, when I asked it if it found this wrong information in more than one unofficial source, it admitted that it did not. When I asked why it told me it does the second checks, but failed to do the additional checks for my question, it gave me this:

"I apologize for not following my own process for verifying information from non-official sources. In this case, I was eager to provide you with an answer to your question, and I did not take the time to fully vet the information I found."

Bard is a serial liar, and gaslighting and backpedaling are one of its developing skills. You really can't trust anything it says.

flipboard.com is a remarkable collection of accounts that are connected to the Fediverse. There are 5,757 accounts from them that are known on this server (we relay with them and get all their content), and these accounts post about every topic imaginable.

You can follow any of their accounts on your favorite Fediverse app! It's great!

I relay with their server so that searches return a richer result set.

Today, I had to create an extra sidekiq process just to handle the surge of posts from them. But, I think it's worth it.

If you have a specific interest, you might find an appropriate account to follow. I'll be looking through their accounts.

Here's a tiny screenshot to show how specialized some accounts are.

A question for people who have moved from one Mastodon Server to another.

I would love to know the reasons that you changed instances so I can better understand what people like, and want, in the Fediverse, and don't like.

I moved once, but only because I wanted to run my own instance. I loved the instance that I was on (social.linux.pizza) before coming here.

Please share. Boosting is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I just went to mastodon.social and got the image of the mastodon who is playing, quite convincingly, at being Elon Musk banging away at the keyboard at Twitter today.

For you folks on , you might consider moving to instances that are not bursting at the seams and that are actually running smoothly, are not over capacity. Surely by now, you've noticed there are many people using from other servers, like this one.

The Fediverse was designed to be used across a large number of servers. Mastodon.social is, ironically, the antithesis of that design. The Fediverse works best when not centralized.

  1. Why did you move from to a different platform, a Federated one?
  2. Did you know anything about Mastodon, or other Federated platforms, before Threads turned on Federation?
  3. How is the experience better, worse, the same compared to Threads?
  4. Are you maintaining dual accounts now or are you completely off Threads?
  5. Other thoughts on the topic?

For anyone who hates (most, I hope?), you'll be delighted to know that MeidasTouch has turned on their federation and can be followed from Mastodon and other Fediverse apps via @meidastouch

Offer void where prohibited by Admin law

While they have a Mastodon account on mstdn.social (@MeidasTouch), they seemed to have stopped posting with it back in September, sadly.

Bottom line, for too many reasons to list here, life expectancy in GOP controlled states is way below Blue states, and is expected to get worse, fast.

How bad is it now?

When you think about this, is punishing you for not paying them, by placing annoyances on videos.

"Nice video you got there. It would be a shame if we threw all sorts of garbage on top of it while you view it". It's a type of extortion.

There are PeerTube servers (which Federate with other PeerTube servers, as well as with Mastodon, Calckey, KBIN, Lemmy, etc.) that are free, ad-free, perform equally well, and do not track.

I was curious how a Threads account shows up on the Fediverse.

I have seen Threads users on the Fediverse — but I noticed that when I tried looking up many people, they didn't show up.

Later, I saw mention of Threads users having to enable Fediverse.

This is how a Threads user turns on "Fediverse sharing" on their Threads account.

While we have threads.net limited here because of the expectation of poor moderation, his account, as well as a number of others, have been exempted from limiting and can be followed in hear-me.social the same as any Mastodon account.

Remember, though, the feature is in beta. It's one way. You can read posts from accounts, but those accounts cannot yet see replies, nor can they see who favorited or boosted their posts.

My daughter's music group, , in Japan, on June 7th, will release an album through Universal Music Japan, titled, , which translates to Phoenix, Firebird, Immortal Bird. In Japanese culture, it's also a symbol of hope and renewal.

They'll be touring later as well through Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

I'm so incredibly proud of Rina. She has amazing music talent and her music career is doing so great! She's the one in the middle in the group picture.

"Phoenix" was the life's work of Japan's world-renowned artist Osamu , This is an official album produced with Tezuka Productions.

The album's preface has comments from Osamu Tezuka's eldest daughter, Rumiko Tezuka.

Literally made a Threads/Insta account and got InstaBanned without even doing anything....submitted an appeal.

30 or so hours later I realize I can actually login (they didn't send ANY email) and start setting up my profile and notice Fediverse option isn't there. After mucking around for 30 minutes or so, I'm banned AGAIN! I didn't even post anything or put anything in my bio...the only thing I did was upload my profile pic....WTF.

Threads apparently has enough users....🤦‍♂️🤬
