I work in tech but am learning how better to separate that from my passion for programming.

Another opportunity for chaos as the workmen who were supposed to start Tuesday rescheduled the work.

I'm keeping my expectations low and on the negative side of "this fine." With any luck, it will only be noisy while they pound on the house and they won't find anything hidden.

Otherwise, a baking day. Bread is rising in its pans. A day where the goal becomes very simple.

It looks like someone submitted 4 different credit applications at 3 different banks with my deets since Sunday.

The only credit-kinda thing I've done lately was pick up a new phone through T-Mobile on Saturday.

So either that's a total coincidence or some API is fucking giving up the game somewhere.

Oh, VERY WORTH NOTING - I noticed these fraudulent credit inquiries because I'm signed up for Experian's free product, and I saw a handful of inquiries start pinging my file.

MONITOR YO CREDIT. This was a hell of a lot easier since I caught it within 2 days of starting.

Also, FREEZE YO CREDIT with all 3 agencies. It's free - they'll use some dark patterns to try to get you to pay for products, but it's free for all 3.

Workmen arrive to begin the process of bringing the exterior of the house up to snuff this morning.

I'm expecting the day to be noisy and filled with unexpected interruptions.

Chaos to restore order.

After too many years, the place is finally on the path of restoration. It's going to take some time and effort but it will be nice to get things in order in at least this one facet of my life.

Dunno how many of you are on TikTok and have seen the video from the NY Times of our congress folks begging to be allowed to give them pay raises but it makes me kinda sick.

Honestly, I get it - you have 2 places you have to live - there's a good solution to that: Congressional dorms.

Also - how about remote work? Y'all can do most of your job over fucking zoom. I've watched CSPAN, most of you aren't paying attention anyway.

The biggest do-nothing congress of my lifetime doesn't deserve a pay raise when all of us are suffering. Fuck right off.
