Who knew that training AI to give you quick summaries to any query on data from a platform that had "What is this - wrong answers only" as an in-joke for decades was a bad idea?
Me, ignorant: "Going over CVEs is a great way to learn what exploited weaknesses C has and the things human beings truly struggle with that are at risk."
Linux kernel, snorting a fat line: "Weeeeeoohaaaaa!! What if we turned every fix commit into its own CVE using grep???"
I'm on here looking for text indexers and everything is 'lightning fast exoscale terafloops that scales to enterprise quantawarbles with polytopplic performanations' and it would be great if this industry could breathe into a bag until it remembers that one person with one computer is a constituency that matters.
Of geek interest: UUIDs have been around for a long time and they work well and interoperate fine, but the specification space is a mess. So the IETF just shipped RFC9562; it has a fine consideration of the history and the trade-offs involved in all the different flavors of UUIDs, and is well-written and I think, as of now, the place to start looking if something UUID-flavored is puzzling you. Strong work! https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9562.html
I am incredibly proud of the whole @ProtectEarthUK team and all of our supporters for planting over 100,000 trees in three short years, especially because the first year was only about 4,000!
We do so much more than plant trees (wildflowers, hedgerows, invasive removal, net regen/colonizarion, etc), but as that was our first metric it’s lovey to see the number go up so quickly.
