@wjorth@rolle@ivory This is one of the things I love to see; so many different developers working hard to come up with their take on what #Mastodon can be. Something for everyone. Well, except our dog, because she can't type … and if she could, all she’d probably say is "Feed me, I'm still hungry”.
@WTL@rolle It's not a bug. Just not implemented yet. We will have to rework a lot of how our polls work to support multiple choice. We will get to it eventually.
@rolle Their social features are secondary to their main features. Instagram is a photo blog, youtube is a video host.
You don't find new users to follow/subscribe via interaction with your existing follows/subscriptions. Interaction is reserved to comment sections under the posts. You can't even share (akin to retweeting/boosting) existing content, which is a key feature for the social aspect.
They (mainly instagram) managed to market themselves as social, but they aren't.

For the audience who wanted to leave Twitter due to the hate speech, Spoutible is a good replacement. Of course we must be the neophytes who do not understand as much as you do. We're building community there which is the purpose of social media, in my opinion.
@deb_prothero One should not flee to a dodgy platform and trade to poor security and yet another centralization. Do they still have any apps? I tried it and they demanded a phone number which then was leaked to the wild...

Are you really this obtuse or is it self-righteousness that consumes you. There are millions of neophytes who would not know that the platform has poor security. How can one even assess that? And how do you know your phone number was leaked? Naturally you will have noticed that I am using Mastodon but there are not enough people here to fill the need for news.
@rolle I don't use Facebook, but unfortunately, I have to you messenger since thats where most of my friends and family are. But I never go on the actual Facebook page

Yeah, maybe I just need to force them off the platform if they wanna talk with me 😅 Because my god, I don't wanna use Facebook at all, and if it was solely up to me, I would have deleted my profile ages ago
@rolle I don’t see how YouTube counts as social media. It doesn’t fit the blogging (Facebook) or micro-blogging (instagram/Twitter) models. It’s more like watching TV.
@rolle IG because of work (Will immediately bolt when I don't need to be there anymore), YT because tech reviews (present and future job oriented stuff), Reddit because it's a useful place to kill time.
@rolle I'm waiting on my suspension to end on Twitter and I will be leaving Twitter, it's become a cesspool of nazis and white supremacists since anti semite elon musk took over
