Turns out that when your crime is fraudulently overvaluing your assets, none of the surety companies want to accept those fraudulently overvalued assets as collateral. The only way to find out their true value is to sell them.

Unless an appellate court intervenes, Trump's civil fraud judgment becomes collectible 30 days after it is entered — that is, exactly a week from today.
So we're about a week away from finding out just how deep in debt he actually is, as his creditors are going to want to get paid back before any assets are seized.
In other words, Trump is saying to the First Department: “Give me a stay for free but let me keep borrowing money in the meantime.” John Sauer is a good lawyer—but I’m interested in how he squares this circle if and when an oral argument happens.
But now, they are asking a full panel of the Appellate Division to stay enforcement of the money portion of the judgment without a bond while “maintain[ing] all other aspects of he interim stay.”
@GottaLaff what a maroon. The rules are "you have to escrow the money after you lose to even have an appeal be considered" and he's like "How about I just don't pay?"
I would bet a hundredth of a penny (my gambling limit) that Trump is not just illiquid (he does not have enough cash on hand to pay his immediate debts) but actually insolvent (his total assets are worth less than his total liabilities). While he has billions in real estate, he must have even bigger debts.
And I bet also that he has been in that situation for decades; and has been playing the game "borrow from Peter to pay Paul" all that time.
@GottaLaff maybe his political run this time around is first and foremost all about cash? Admittedly if he wins, an added benefit is he can make the federal cases disappear.
But maybe, just maybe, he's all about the cash this time. He gets more cash the more outlandish (fascist) his comments are.
The legacy he leaves behind? The "new" GOP has been converted to fascism and Christian religious zealots.
We are going to live with this problem a lot longer than #TFG being around.

whodda thunkit? the guy convicted of lying about having zillions of dollars doesn't even have 464 millions of dollars, which is way less than those billions he said he had, too bad so sad, i vote for NY to seize his buildings for a quick sale to settle some of these debts
