I saw a post yesterday questioning why the U.S. is investing in projects for electric vehicles but not investing in public transportation. That’s just false.
First, we aren’t getting rid of cars. We are too spread out and it’s doubtful that public transportation will be available in entirely where everyone, everywhere, at every time of day will need it. And we will always need vehicles for emergency services like ambulances and fire trucks and mail delivery and farms. 1/4
@TonyStark Trouble is, a widespread shift from petroleum fuel to lithium batteries won't improve anything & in some ways will make it worse. For lithium, the ocean floors will be raped and its creatures massively slaughtered. What the US will do to Brazil and Australia will strongly resemble what we did to Iraq.

There are solutions to this that are extremely efficient and will solve multiple problems at once.
Currently sowing a tiny garden for my field ants. I've kept field ants before and they didn't really thrive. I'm hoping if I can arrange for them to tend a heard of aphids they will be happier.
They colony is about 15 strong, and the queen is lovely shiny and black. They are also very nervous and freak out at every new sound and vibration. Will a box of green plants calm them? We shall see!
Hopefully the ants can keep the aphids from killing them. Ants will move their herds to keep them from overgrazing a single leaf... and they sometimes eat a few of the heard.
The aphids do not even seem to notice and are very docile as they are carried around and fussed over by the frantic ants.

@simon@mhoye@anildash yeah, that's fair. I think that's also due to accounts being regularly suspended due to the contents at the link (i.e., it's very common that posting an onlyfans URL in an instagram story will result in your account being suspended)
And the reason I mention something adult here, is because they're often leaders with how these link in bio services are used.

Hearing rumors of the first #ComicConFinland. Didn’t visit myself personally, but my wife and daughter were there yesterday. It was a brief visit because they couldn’t breathe. Top highlights:
Way too many people packed in one space and only one exit (they opened another later). People got stuck inside and got panic attacks, because were not able to leave. My wife and daugher waited 15 minutes to get out.
Barely any security around
Understaffed in each aspect, no medical around
No organized lines, people made up the lines themselves and it was a mess, lines didn’t have any progress, some lined up for 8 hours without getting to meet their heroes that they paid for. Those who did get to meet, stayed babbling there for 30 minutes. Nobody controlled the meets.
They sold extra tickets even though everyone ran out already
From 10000+ visitors only 800 were able to fit in to the public Q&A, no screens were provided for the rest of them
Everything sold out really quickly and the rest of the stuff were cheap fake crap
No comicbooks found, well why bother in Comiccon right?
No organized hall, everything thrown to the same space
No water points
These from the top of my head, serious issues, what a shitshow… social media representatives boost only the positive sides. Visitors’ comments paint a different picture.
@rolle a friend of mine was there, too, and criticized exactly these things you listed. Especially the chaotic waiting and huge crowds without proper organisation were the worst and on the whole the con was a disappointment to them.
