@TonyStark Johnson's first proposal feeds the rich. The IRS is the biggest source of funding for America and he wants to take away it's ability to go after the rich. His regular guy facade is a scary joke.

If you apply for a job in a school, then in the UK at least you are subject to back ground checks, social media searches and references and other checks.
What checks are made on people such as politicians? So only suitable people can be consiered for the post. Maybe we need to ensure those running for office are subjected to checks so people in office know who they are voting for.
Wonder about that. Just Googled "Mike Johnson" and almost every result is some suspicious, weird or twisted thing about him. Think that the word is getting out.
Not trying to be a jerk, just seems like in this case there is indeed a lot of coverage of what a creepy guy he is. Certainly not defending the weirdo. Usually agree with your perspectives, but this time was disagreeing about the media giving Johnson a pass. Think they love to go after this brand of fraud.

@TonyStark@DemocracyMattersALot Tony, I thought it was a bad idea for Dems to join MAGAts and vote to remove McCarthy. Would have preferred they just voted “present”. My thought was “better to have the enemy you know than the enemy you don’t know”. Folks didn’t agree with me at the time. Seems the worse case scenario has played out.
@TonyStark he may also end up being one of those people who seem fine at first glance then actually get scrutiny when in a position of power (eg his apparent lack of any banking activity....). Not that scrutiny seems to matter to the modern Republican.
@TonyStark Yes I basically agree but I was very amused to see the nation accuse the NYTimes of a "major error" concerning whether he is second or third in line. He is most definitely second in line to the presidency with Kamala Harris being first in line to the presidency and the president of the United States not being in line for the presidency at all because he's the president! I mean seriously The Nation do you have editors?
@oregonmiles I just told someone else that there are so many problems with journalism right now, it’s hard to know where to turn. I don’t particularly even like The Nation or Jeet Heer that much but I thought this piece was a good summary of the problems with Mike Johnson.
Maybe the ownership of all of these outlets fired their editors? Hire them back and create a few more jobs.
