Hey, , I’m in the market for small, but powerful, lightweight travel binocs. Something that I can easily fit in a small bag and that won’t hurt my neck if that’s how I’m carrying them. And that won’t disappoint optics wise. I’d also love to not spend a gazillion dollars. Any recommendations?

As an antidote to all the misery of the past 18 hours, these lightened my heart this morning.

I hope you enjoy them too

Zoomed in view of a three adult ducks, and at least 10 ducklings milling around on the pavement and nature strip beside a road.

Vultures clean up carrion, yes? I'm no expert but...

...perhaps we should move beyond besmirching them by equating private equity and hedge fund behaviors to vulture behavior, as the former are more on par with colonialism than a carrion scavenger.

Gotta tell you that Lucy Cousins’s masterpiece “Hooray for Birds!” is this household’s literary darling. Honestly, at this point I feel like I should have read the audiobook.

@jcrabapple, May Cthulu forgive me, I have created a "Magazine" on dmv.pub. I am pretty sure I don't want to be a mod, but SOMEONE has to run "whatsthisbird" or I won't get the help I need. I often photograph birds I don't recognize and can't ID from the various other online sources. The whatsthisbird subreddit was a treasure. I hope to grow a new one.
