The Brave web browser has carved out a niche over the past few years as an alternative to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and other mainstream web browsers. Some of that has come from its marketing as a privacy-preserving web browser, and it has also been repeatedly evangelized by cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
PSA to everyone to not use brave browser @brave, the CEO of Brave Software is bigoted (donated to anti-lgbtqia+ organizations trying to ban gay marriage in the past and still has never addressed it or apologized) and was also against the Covid Lockdowns and is anti-vax. Using brave browser contributes to oppression of LGBTQIA+ ppl and contributes to brave software financially through ads and other means.
I recommend anyone still using brave browser to switch to ungoogled-chromium as a non-bigoted degoogled chromium-based browser alternative. @floccus is a good browser extension to use on ungoogled-chromium to sync your bookmarks.
If you ever thought “I wish I could control my browsers using Shortcuts”, you might be in luck! 😉 It's still a work in progress but I think it's quite solid already.
Priority todo for today: Get the new Browser Actions TestFlight ready and out of the door. Since it became clear that I won't be able to sell that app through the App Store, I realized I might as well rebuild it to be able to do more™ later.
My ability to accept (App Store) rejections is straight-up Shakespearean
Applescript support in #ArcBrowser is pretty broken. One space, one window, three tabs open, but via Applescript it reports a list of 57 (!) dysfunctional Tab objects.
Well, my code-level support ticket was picked up by Apple, and I think I have my answer — it looks like I'll have to sell my upcoming app Browser Actions outside the App Store after all.
It's in Icelandic, but if you use Brave browser (see app store) it has a translation feature that is usable to discern what it is written. #BraveBrowser#Brave
In preparation for tomorrow's public #TestFlight of Browser Actions for #macOS, I've added the list of currently available new Shortcuts actions to its website.
✅ add support for filtering to "Get Browser Windows” & "Get Browser Tabs” actions
✅ add support for naming #Safari windows
✅ add action for bringing a page element into view
