📲 Welches Custom ROM (mit MicroG) für das Pixel 5?
Ich soll für jemanden ein Pixel 5 flashen und einrichten. Die Person hat bislang ein anderes Gerät mit #eOS genutzt und eigentlich ist der Auftrag, auch auf dem Pixel /e/OS zu installieren.
Ich habe nun aber gesehen, dass das Pixel dafür einen Downgrade von Android 14 auf Android 13 braucht, daher bin ich nun am Überlegen, ob ich nicht doch ein anderes #CustomROM empfehlen soll.
Für das Pixel 5 kämen infrage: #LineageOS 21 (Android 14) #DivestOS 20.0 (Android 13)
/e/ t (Android 13) #CalyxOS 14 #iodeOS (Android 13)
Da nur LineageOS und CalyxOS Android 14 für das Pixel 5 anbieten, tendiere ich momentan zu CalyxOS (mit dem ich aber noch keine Erfahrung habe).
Für mich persönlich würde ich ja DivestOS nehmen, aber das wäre doch vielleicht noch etwas weiter von eOS weg (und unterstützt #microG nicht bzw. nur über Umwege). Es sollen auch einige Apps über Aurora installiert werden, die wohl bislang mit MicroG auf eOS gut laufen.
Einen besonders hohen Sicherheitsanspruch gibt es in dem Fall nicht; es soll auch kein Banking und keine Zahlungsdienste o.ä. drauf laufen (nur bspw. einige Spiele, die wohl microG erfordern)
Hat jemand von Euch Erfahrung sowohl mit eOS als auch mit CalyxOS und kann von den Unterschieden aus User-Perspektive berichten?
Kann man irgendeine Prognose treffen, welches ROM das Pixel 5 mehr oder weniger lang unterstützen wird?
@tsterbak ja, das ginge auch. Aber die anderen haben noch ein paar mehr #Privacy -Features eingebaut, daher würde ich das eher bevorzugen.
Und bei #CalyxOs und #iodeOS kann man mW wählen, ob es mit oder ohne #MicroG installiert werden soll.
Meinst Du die (vermutete) Dauer, wie lange es unterstützt wird, spricht eher für #LineageOS ?
Ich habe hier noch ein mega gut erhaltenes #Pixel2 (walleye) zu liegen.
War vor gut 1 Jahr refurbished mit neuem Akku und wurde nicht mehr gebraucht.
Gibt es einen Tipp für ein tatsächlich funktionierendes #CustomROM, um es auf ein halbwegs aktuelles Sicherheitsupdate zu bekommen?
Ich hatte schon einen Versuch im Dez23 mit #LineageOS, gab aber Probs bei der SIM-Erkennung.

Dis #masto, est-ce que tu as déjà constaté ceci sur un #FP5 sous #Murena /e/ à jour (1.21) : point d'accès wifi activé sur le téléphone, depuis un autre téléphone, la connexion apparait comme "limitée", et pas de navigation web possible. Pareil depuis un ordinateur connecté à l'AP. Comme s'il n'y avait pas de #DNS. Pourtant, depuis l'ordi, un ping vers une IP passe, un ping vers un tld passe aussi. Testé en DNS "auto", Quad9 ou ceux de @franciliens. Une piste ? @Khrys@thouand_e@gael@parinux

Anyone know what happened to the #LineageOS builds last week? Are new builds being produced now? I can't find the server that runs the official builds, on the old website they linked to the server so you could see the build queue.

These changes give you control of your:
📱 data: decide freely how your data is used
📱 phone: choose your default apps, browsers and search engines
📱 apps: install the apps you want and remove pre-installed apps
This one definetively is in the right directiion, it only came 'a bit late' and is way too short.
There is no choice, if soneone wants me to use WhatsApp, AirDrop or AirPlay.
In my private environment I can say 'no, thanks' (and socially isolate myself), but when it comes to companys (e.g. discounts), communities (e.g. soccer for kids) or public services (e.g. schools), I have no choice. I simply have to use a device that supports it.
Still no chance for other manufacturers or data sensible devices.
To install:
1- Unlock your bootloader! THIS IS A MUST.
2- follow these commands:
adb reboot bootloader
-- wait until you see a white screen with FastBoot
fastboot reboot fastboot
-- wait until you see a dark screen with a menu
fastboot flash system /path/to/rom.img
-- wait until it finishes flashing
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
I'll keep working on the app, but for now, refresh and speed setting is working when pressing the refresh eink button!
I didn't want to have to rebuild the whole OS to update the Eink app, so I've now signed and prebuilt the .apk that is bundled with the OS. Then I can update and install a new version of it. It's the same approach that Google uses to update the core apps without having to recreate a new version of the OS. If this works, I can release the OS and update the .apk going forward :android:
Just installed #LineageOS#MicroG on my Galaxy Tab. So far, everything works great and so much better without all the bloatware. I installed #Saber for handwritten notes and I'm happy with it as well.

📲 Welche kleinen Smartphones (~5") gibt es (nach 2016), die von einem #CustomROM unterstützt werden?
Leider wurden in den letzten Jahren kaum noch kleine, handliche Geräte hergestellt. Wenn ich nach "kleinen" Geräten recherchiere, ist die Definition meist sehr großzügig i.S.v. "kleiner als 6 Zoll" bzw. "kleiner als 15x7cm", was ich schon relativ große finde. Für mich persönlich wäre die perfekte Größe sowas wie das S4 Mini (das ist 12x6cm groß), da ich sowieso keine Ambitionen habe, auf dem Teil Romane zu schreiben oder Filme zu schauen (dafür gibt es zum Glück geeignetere Geräte).
Mir sind diese als relativ kleine Geräte bekannt, die von einem oder mehreren CustomROMs unterstützt werden und noch eine erträgliche Größe haben : Samsung bis S10, Pixel2-3, Sony Z3+Z5 Compact Kennt Ihr darüber hinaus noch andere?...je kleiner, desto besser!
@Lemmchen ahja, danke. Die Seite kannte ich auch im Prinzip, es gibt irgendwie ziemlich viele Device-Übersichten für #LineageOS , aber hier kann u.a. nach "Display Size" gefiltert werden 👍 . Demnach gibt es tatsächlich nur noch zwei Geräte mit 5 Zoll (wie o.g. Pixel2 und das Sony XZ2 Compact) sowie fünf weitere mit 5,2 Zoll, die offiziell unterstützt werden.
Irgendwann hatte ich auch mal eine Überblick für inoffizielle Builds gefunden, finde es nun aber nicht wieder (bzw. nur für alte #LOS oder #eOS-Versionen). Ist ziemlich mühsam, sich da jeweils einzeln durchs xda-Forum zu wühlen...

Aujourd'hui j'ai installé #LineageOs20 (#android13) sur mon #Fairphone4 (qui tourne toujours sous #android11) Ça faisait lonnnnnngtemps que je n'avais plus utilisé #LineageOs , je suis content de voir que c'est toujours agréables et hyper fonctionnel! #OpenSource
Petite mise à jour, depuis passé a LineageOS 21 (l'application de musique est vraiment buggée ou c'est moi ?), j'étais repassé sur le clavier par défaut. Je viens de tomber sur #HeliBoard un chouette clavier hyper personnalisable (qui semble être un fork d'#Openboard). Je retrouve une fonctionnalité qui me manquait beaucoup : la gestion de plusieurs langues dans les suggestions de mots et correction. Sans oublier que le clavier est #OpenSource et respecte la vie privée. #clavier#android#lineageos21#lineageos#smartphone
