NHS Grampian is asking volunteers to take part in a new Moderna vaccine trial to tackle the blight of respiratory syncytial virus - RSV - which kills hundreds of Scots every year. I spoke to Prof Roy Soiza, who is involved in the trial, and he spoke about the perception that many people have “vaccine fatigue”. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/6373473/nhs-grampian-volunteers-vaccine-rsv/

Now that the Centers for Disease “Control” have given up on covid, what is the likelihood of spring boosters for the elderly and at risk this year in the US? I saw that UK is getting them, but I don’t know their vax rollout history. .

Book recommendation:
"A Shot to Save the World".

It's a very in depth narrative history of the brilliant men and women who dedicated literal decades of their lives to making incremental scientific advancements that culminated in the creation of the various Covid19 vaccines. The story will probably make you really hacked off at all the people sharing that screenshot of the tweet of the jerk claiming that the Covid19 mRNA vaccine technology isn't worth a BigMac.

Moderna’s mRNA cancer vaccine works even better than thought https://www.freethink.com/health/cancer-vaccine

and pharma giant are developing an -based , mRNA-4157 (V940), for people who’ve had high-risk removed.

The vaccine works by instructing the body to make up to 34 “.” These are proteins found only on the cancer cells, and Moderna personalizes the vaccine for each recipient so that it carries instructions for the neoantigens on their cancer cells.”

The Messenger

The inside story of an unprecedented feat of science and business. At the start of 2020, Moderna was a biotech unicorn with dim prospects.

By year's end, with the virus raging, Moderna delivered one of the world's first Covid-19 vaccines, with a stunningly high rate of protection.

PSA re: Novavax

I talked to my immunologist/allergist this morning as I have to go through a 2 week course of treatment before getting my Pfizer shot. I've been unlucky in that even though it helps it doesn't completely remove the (non-life-threatening) adverse effects.

I had hope for Novavax here in Canada. My allergist (ditto my pharmacist) said it wasn't available(Ontario), and that he wouldn't recommend it anyway. He said that both the new adapted Pfizer and Moderna are far more effective. I am so bummed. 💦

I suppose we should take any information with a grain of salt these days even from experts but information remains scarce. I just thought I'd let people know. I'm biting the bullet and going ahead.

Thanks to all the uncaring clods out there who continue to contribute to my bit of misery.

And a giant heartfelt thank you to all those here who are so supportive (especially zeroes.ca) and keep me going and alive.💖

I’ve been struggling with breathing since my Moderna poke and found a tea that seems to be helping a little. I was excited to share the good news in an review but wondered if my vax status note would be accepted. Guess what. tea.

rdolishny,

@Nazareno my breathing has become laboured and after waiting almost a year to see a respirologist he sent me home with a May 2024 followup. I can't breathe. I can't sleep. The coughing is unbearable. I've ordered the McCulough reduction mix of Nattokinase, Bromelain and Piperine. I hope this works. I'm feeling this is going to be how it ends for me unless these supplements work.

Just a reminder to folks, you can get right away in the States. I got mine last Saturday.

Notes:

  • only Walgreens and CVS can give out free vaccine to the uninsured now (used to be any pharmacy could)
  • Walgreens is more prevalent near us, and they have mostly , but you can get if you search for it
  • isn't authorized yet, also note it was never carried by Walgreens in the past, so don't get hopes up.

This morning feeling a bit chilly and last night was sweaty (mild fever) -- likely side effects from my with on Saturday. Site tenderness has gone away though.

Curious that it took so long for the side effect to grab hold (long for me, anyway).

Question for

The guidance for those who have been recently infected is to wait 3 months before getting the 2023 vaccine.

Can anyone clarify if this is 3 months from when you tested positive or 3 months from testing negative?
